Decoding Box labels

#1

Post by ImHereForTheMilitary2 »

So I take it yellow means some if not all serration, white is PE, and I get the model number in the top left, model name/code in the top right, and of course the UPC code... but the other codes I don't get. They almost appear random. Just as a matter of interest, does anyone know?

The two capital letters are the date code.

First letter is for the month (A = January, B = February and so on)
Second letter for the year (A = 2001,B = 2002 and so on)

Lets take the code on the box of my Goddard as an example:
EW = May 2023
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Probably ought to add that date-codes specify when a Spydie got boxed, not produced. Production-dates for (Golden-only?) folders are stamped on their tang.

First post here. But I have been reading post for a long time.

Anyway where are the date codes on the folders located. I have a Cruwear PM2 on me today and don’t see any date on the tang.

Useful info about date code...Thank You Wartstein!

Second letter for the year (A = 2001,B = 2002 and so on)

I think it's only on Golden models, though. Neither of the Taichung models I checked have it:

Here's a helpful graphic I found somewhere on the internet (would give credit if I remembered where I got it... might have been another thread on this forum)
