Re: LC200N / Caribbean SE torture test gauntlet of death
I haven't found boxcutter/utility knife blades to do well in that sort of material. The plastic will bind any blade and the very thin razor blades tend to snap. Of course, it could just be due to my hamfisted cutting style.

fortunately, it's not a material most people need to face in their every day cutting tasks.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

I think you will be VERY pleased with the Salt 2 ffg SE! :) (And I´d love to hear how you like it, for example in this thread: viewtopic.php?t=89256)Johnnyh wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 7:39 amI just sat here and read the entire thread in one sitting. Your dedication to torturing this knife for all it’s worth is impressive! Truly remarkable. I just ordered up a Salt 2 SE Wharncliffe in LC200N yesterday. Although it’s definitely not in Caribbean territory, I’m more confident than ever that it will easily withstand the rigors of my not-so-torturous back yard gardening stuff and occasional fishing trip. Thanks!
....
In some aspects and tasks it could be an even better performer than the Caribbean, due to the thinner, slicier blade of the Salt (just a guess, I do have the Salt 2 SE, but not the Caribbean)
I love mine, it probably is the best cutter in my collection. Just amazing, and while the blade is thin, it is also plenty strong.
Of course the handle, while comfortable, is not as large and handfilling as the Caribbeans and will set limits to the performance in really hard tasks (leverage and so on)
/ Also, I like your signature...
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Re: LC200N / Caribbean SE torture test gauntlet of death
I just got my Caribbean yesterday after reading through this entire thread. I must be honest and say that I dud not like the looks of it and had little interest in it. In the last 24 hours it is quickly becoming a favorite. I have been using it around to house to cut limes and sausage for a BBQ and some beers. This thing cuts wonderfully.
The main thing that attracted me to this from this post is the rounded off serrations that Evil D discussed in detail. With my salt 2 I noticed that even when it is really sharp, it still tends to tear more than cut and that can be annoying unless you are constantly cutting fibrous material. This is 100% not the case with the carrebean. I am feeling that you get all the benefits of the way a sharp plain edge cuts, with the added benefits that serrations offer. Definitely has me rethinking everything when it comes to serrations.
While I have less than a day with this knife, it’s obviously not a review. Just my initial impressions of this knife.
I have to thank evil D for opening my eyes to this with this thread. I wasn’t sure if I would regret this purchase when I pulled the trigger. I’m happy to report I have zero regret and am loving this knife more and more every second that goes by.
Here are a few pics. One shows the difference in the pointy serrations on the salt 2, compared to the more rounded serrations of the Caribbean.

Glad you bumped Davids great thread! One of the best on this forum imo, and new members should get a chance to look at it!
I feel like you, while the Salt SE (in my case the ffg version) is a great outdoor folder and reliably separates anything that needs to be cut (and much longer than PE could before getting dull), it is not as good as the more "mellow" teeth of my for example Endela SE or Stretch XL SE for regular knife tasks.
The Caribbean SE must be even better and probably erase every reason I personally still might have for using PE in a folder (I actually never do anymore anyway if I can, but carry my PE options pretty much only cause I like the model/platform, but not the plain edge)

Fantastic stuff. Thanks so much, Evil D! I knew the LC was good but I had no clue how good. Bump for a sweet thread!

The Caribbean qualifies as a salt model, right? I may need to add this to my wish list

The SE Leaf is still in stock at Deadwood Knives. Only place I can find it. It's under 200 bucks and you can get another 10% off with coupon code SPY2020. That's a great F'n deal. No affiliation.
