This beetle landed on me today while fishing.
Based on the pattern it looks like a Pink Spotted Lady Beetle but the coloration is a bit off. It looks more orange than pink.
Then I thought maybe Marsh Lady Beetle because of the color and I was fishing next to a marsh but the pattern doesn’t quite match.
Not quite sure but I do believe it’s some type of Ladybug.

Red Wasps, Umbrella Paper Wasps,
have been swarming my back porch.
At 10pm I go out with a bright flashlight
and wasp spray and spray them
where they roost in groups on the ceiling of the porch.
I've killed a couple dozen that way already
but there were still a dozen on my picture window today.
This picture is taken from the inside.
The larger one, top center, I think may be a female.
She was going around checking on the smaller ones,
which may be males. Only the females can sting
but it is difficult to sex them when they are flying,
so I run and flail around like a crazy person.
They are capable of stinging multiple times,
a fact to which I can attest.
They have attacked me without provocation
so it makes it hard to like them
even though they are beneficial.

The hummingbird activity at my summer house has been heavy! I sat and watched two of them square off in the trees for about 5 minutes the other day. They both had a section of the tree that they stayed in and buzzed back and forth while chirping at each other. I even saw one catch and eat an insect mid flight before resting on a nearby branch. They’re a lot of fun to watch.
