Got my $150 box delivered.

Knife 1 = LIL' NATIVE® PINK G-10 CPM S45VN EXCLUSIVE
Knife 2 = Para 3 Black FRN CTS BD1N

Kind of surprised by this. The seconds black bladed para 3 LW was selling for $60 online. I believe the seconds lil native exclusives were selling for around $75 at the most recent seconds sale. I thought the value of the knives in the mystery boxes would total at least $150 (by "value" here I mean the total price you could buy each individual knife for at the seconds sale).

The most recent in-person seconds sale, in May. I bought a green G10 DLC coated cruwear lil native for $75. I believe the pink ones were priced similarly, though I don't remember their exact price.

I get how the mystery boxes can be exciting and spark some interest around the sale, especially if you’re a devoted collector, but unintentional consumption doesn’t appeal to me at all. It’s hard enough to limit intentional consumption.

Spyderco’s exact wording was “highly sought after limited edition knives. The warncliff pm2 was $86 at the in person seconds sale I bought one I have the receipt. The list of seconds sale exclusives that are over $100 cost is not that long. Any Shaman, some as high as $145. The 15v is $105. SMKW fat carbon pm2’s. The black out pm2 s30v tanto was $100. Kapara 20cv $115. 4v military $100. Drunken $315 Paysan $315. REC Manix is $97. So the expectation for a “highly sought after “ limited edition knife” if the two knife mystery box was $150 and the three knife box was $250 the only difference was one limited edition knife that that knife would have a $100 value or at least the combined actual cost would be at least what Spyderco charged. The early results don’t look good. I looked at Reddit for the unboxing. He had purchased a Manix lx maxamet. It had the seconds sale price sticker on it. I don’t think the mystery box knives had the typical seconds sale stickers.

Got a shipping notification for my ceramic sharpening rods and Aqua Salt.

While I didn't get my first choice of knives it was a nice surprise seeing Aqua Salts listed. What are the chances my favorite fixed blade that was discontinued was part of the sale, AND I happen to have an extra factory sheath for them lying around?

Yeah, that sounds like a winner there.

Congrats to all who were able to make a purchase at the sale. I'm happy for them. :party-face

In my Basic Mystery Box ($150) I got a Cru-Wear Manix Xl with smooth G-10, and a red G-10 S30V UKPK marked "H" in a black square on the blade near the finger choil.

If I did not feel like taking a chance, then I would have "just" purchased the exact items I wanted. The Mystery Box was a little exciting, as an adult I rarely get good surprises. Neither knife was really on my radar to purchase, and I am happy with both. Glad I did it, glad they offered it and hope Spyderco does again.

Edited: think its a UKPK, not a Joker- the blade is longer than the Native 5 I have in my pocket.

That is the Heinnie Haynes exclusive (or as they market them, Heinnie Edition) UKPK. They are in the UK so they tend to do non-lockers for their exclusives. You got a solid box!

My $150 Mystery box is on the porch waiting for me to get home. I'll post up what's in it as soon as I know.

Two More Mystery Box Data Points for the Community (I got a 3-box and a 2-box). Apologies ahead of time, I do not know the exact models, so I'm including pics so the more knowledgeable forumites can positively identify.

Image

From the 3-box:
  • Black DLC Native Chief M4 with Red G10. Possibly the St. Nick's exclusive?
  • BBB 15V Shaman - I know this one, I have this one!
  • CTS-BD1N Polestar? Maybe? I thought it was a Tenacious at first. Something on the budget side.
Image

From the 2-box
  • DLC Blacked out CruWear Native I believe
  • DLC Bow River
I think the Bow River is a bit of a whiff, but everything else seems "reasonable". I'm not certain the mystery boxes are truly for me, because I'm mostly into just a few models relative to Spyderco's extensive line, but still fun and interesting, and I'll see where these new acquisitions take me.

I really don’t like how they took the price tags off. For obvious purposes evidently. I didn’t expect something like this from Spyderco.

Yeah, the Bow River was really cheap in the regular part of the sale. Maybe some of the boxes were just random.

Anyway, the boxes seem like fun stuff, and mostly really good stuff. I hope they do some SE only mystery boxes in the future.

wow some nice products! how much for the mystery box of 3 and two? I would buy a mystery box but folding knives often get confiscated at the border for canada. So I can only buy fixed blades haha

I'm currently waiting for a factory second aqua salt which will hopefully be coming soon. Do we not know what the defect is until we see it? This is my first time buying a factory second.
