I checked ebay for this same reason this morning searching "Spyderco Seconds". I found a seller who's listing said they had 2 left, 21 sold Manix 2 Maxamet knives. Not sure what to make of that.

He’s from Denver so he can stop by the Factory store in Golden and buy seconds. There are a few people that live out there that do that. When I was there in 2020 they didn’t have any seconds that day.

That's just a fact of life with these seconds sales. Scalpers have gone to the in person sales too and IIRC Spyderco introduced some limits because of them.

At least that seller is listing them as seconds. Some don't even mention that.

Seen someone open 2 mystery boxes on Reddit. 1. Cruwear/ dlc Yojimbo 2. zome delica 3. Satin CTS-XHP Wharncliffe PM2 and 4. Pink frn urban. The first comment said, " wow their shipping is faster than their website" 🤣

If we spent as much time trying as we do doubting, we might have already accomplished it.

The winner was the Cruwear/ dlc Yojimbo in those boxes.

Saved myself some money, I guess. Though the value of those knives are definitely more than the 150 tag, the variety is too widespread and none of those aren't exactly what I would want to buy individually.

I was very tempted by the mystery box, but I am very picky when it comes to handle color, so I passed. Zome and Pink would have been immediately resold in that example so I feel ok about the pass.

it took 6 hours of refreshing after timeout, checking the status repeatedly during meetings, entering CC info about 12 times before it went through, and much consternation, but in the end it was all worth it
CruCarta PM2, Ayoob SE, and Centofante 3 are all heading my way (so my efforts saved $45/hr. In retrospect that's worth the hassle. I won't complain next time knowing it will be a mess, but worth it if successful. Id feel different if I got skunked to be fair)

Im most excited about the CruCarta, as Ive decided I love cruwear and want to try Micarta, but I couldnt justify $200+ for another pm2.
Also got an Ayoob SE. Im stoked on that as the secondary market prices are a non starter for me. I expect a snaggletooth but dont care, that can be fixed by reducing the angle on the tip section if it bothers me.
Last, I have almost bought a Centofante 3 many times over the past year to replace my PM3LW as a lightweight backpacking knife but never pulled the trigger. Nice that they were available as seconds for 1/3 the going price on fleabay. (And Im super stoked to hear the Centofante 4 (wharncliffe) is expected to make a return in the mid-term future!)
I had a 15v PM2 in cart, but by the time I got to CC info it was sold out, kicked me back to cart, delete, checkout 4 more times...probably added another 1.5hrs to the process. somewhat of a bummer, but oh well.

You guys are making me feel a lot better about not being able to order. I had visions of Manix XL 4V, Shaman 15V, Knife Joy Manix 2… not Zome Delicas, Pink lil natives or BDN1 PM2s…

The Cruwear/ dlc Yojimbo was pretty cool though.

Still would have loved a Shaman, a Centofante, annd maybe the black lil native they had, always next time.

That's such a huge difference in variation between knives, you got a tiny knife and a small knife, while others get a large knife and a small knife.

Your expectations are probably more in line with the “special” knives in the mystery boxes.

It sounded like the “special” knives will be various exclusives and maybe some sprints. I would guess SMKW fat carbon exclusives, REC exclusives, BHQ Aluminum exclusives, etc.

Glad the mystery boxes were sold out before I could buy one. Those are not models I would want.

We will see I will get two boxes delivered Saturday. I would expect that the knives would at least meet the $150 cost. I bought a plain pm2 for $53.

Spyderco makes significantly more knives that I don't like than knives I like so the mystery boxes were a non-starter for me. Not that I ever actually had a chance to even see the option to add one to my cart at any point.

Spydercos are the only knives I collect, but as you say, I like a minority of the Color/Steel/Model combos so Im right there with you. Perfect for less picky people though.

I would also expect it to be at least or even more than $150. Just don’t forget they are seconds, sold at about 26% of MSRP. Example a Shaman second was $95, which is 26% of its $360 MSRP. Centofante MSRP $126 sold for $32, 25%. I am sure that number versus on the knife though as some appear closer to MSRP than others.

So let’s take a Manix 110V (MSRP $314) should be around $85 as a second. I would expect something equivalent to two of those in the $150 box.

Or a Shaman $360 and a Pacific Salt $162. At seconds price $132, light for a $150 box. But I guess I could be way off I am not in the knife business just totally guessing.

Man that Yojimbo for $53 was a steal too.

I don’t know how they get the prices but in general they are more than fair. If they are going to put Seki models in how about some k390!
