"Apiomerus spissipes is a remarkably colored assassin bug, ranging in length from 14 to 17 mm depending on the sex. The species is also known as the bee assassin because it preys on bees visiting flowers. These bugs coat their legs in sticky plant resin so they are better equipped to hold onto bees. This species can be found in both Central and North America."

Last night the dogs started barking.
Thinking it might be a copperhead
I grabbed a walking stick and flashlight.
Suddenly the commotion stopped
before I could get there.

Ginger stood guard over the young opossum.
I herded her into the house with some difficulty.

This morning I went straight to the scene
when I let the dogs out. No opossum.
As I suspected, she must have been playing 'possum,
and a good job of it too.

A Virginia Opossum paid a visit to the yard yesterday. Looked like it had a full pouch, so I’m guessing it’s either pregnant or carrying a couple babies.

I do not know insects from Shinola.
On my iphone8 I have the iNaturalist Seek app.
It can also identify plants and animals.
I aim my camera at the screen of my laptop.

Thats a Green Anole but you probably know that. They're often conflated with the, invasive, Brown Anole.

The small one is a squash bug.
The large one was only narrowed down to leaf footed bugs.
