Meaning you don't really like SE?

Could you elaborate why? (Honest question out of real interest in that type of edge )
I don't know. My first SE. I have been carrying it exclusively for almost a week. Just trying to see if there is any advantage to me. I'm going to keep carrying it for awhile to see if it changes my preferences.

Thanks.

Curious how it will work out for you in the end. In a way SE is a mystery to me, or rather how at least to some degree differently it is perceived and seen by folks who actually all have in common that they use their knives in various tasks and know a thing or two about using knives. And, while I am really not a sharpening or steel guru, I do include myself into that group of more or less experienced knife users.

Honestly, when I got my Endela SE I did not expect much, if at all I was rather biased against SE (did not use or like the sabre grind SE or CE Endura and Delica serrations I knew beforehand that much).
But the performance of that Endela SE just blew me away, rather out of the blue. For me it just worked (and still works) better in almost any task I do with folders, and I may say there is quite a variety concerning those.
Furthermore it stayed (and stays) sharp longer than PE, is quicker and easier to sharpen, and still separates matter quite well when technically not sharp anymore. Makes me actually a pretty lazy sharpener. I feel that perhaps coarse PE is on par in many tasks, but probably only if one stays on top of it and keeps it pretty sharp all the time.
(But let me repeat: I can´t tell how much the steep chisel grind of SE contributes to that for me better performance, and not the teeth themselves).
So I am pretty much in line with other (and more experienced) "SE guys" like David.

But, and that said: There are a lot of folks like Vivi, Ladybug, Rick, you... who definitely know their stuff (sure some much better than I do) and use knives a lot (sure some more than I do), but feel differently - prefer PE overall or at least in some / many tasks.

Don´t know - might be due to rather subtle differences in how exactly one uses knives - or how one likes that a cut "feels" - or to the particular way one sharpens their knives...?!

Anyway: As with most things Spydercos: There are choices, for those who prefer SE and those who prefer PE, and those who like both, so all good. :smlling-eyes
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Definitely a good idea to try both edge types out yourself and see what works best for your uses.

Freshly sharpened serrated knives have tremendous cutting power. Much different experience than the dull bread knives that have gone without a touch-up for 20 years that a lot of us have encountered.

I'm glad I learned how to sharpen serrated edges. In the end I went back to preferring PE, but the experience opened my eyes to SE potential.

Of course I like, and have both edges. I'm probably not as good at sharpening as most everyone here though, and I can get SE real sharp, real quickly and real easily. That is the biggest difference for me. I use them more because I worry less about resharpening.
