Need your help:
I’m involved in a court case. I’m sorry, I cannot give detailed information. I would like to know:
1. What size (blade length) knife do you normally carry?
2. What do you use your knife for?
3. At what age did you begin carrying a knife?
Thanx much for your help.

I've start carrying knife since I'm 18. I carry knife with blade length from 1" to 5".
I'm using knife to do lots of thing like, opening bag, wrapping and spyderco package . I also cut my food and do some wood carving (happen some times.). I also use my knife for work around the house.
And I want to add a little something about self defence. Since I and most people here are doing some self defence sport, we won't use a knife as a defence tool. Knife people usually know how to fight an even more important, we know that we should avoid those critical position.
In fact, I've not see any one of us involve in a knife fight (or any fight at all).
We know our political situation is not really good, not many people like to see someone carrying a knife and we aren't even talking about government.
Finally, carrying a knife means carrying bigger responsibility. We know this.
I hope it help. Good luck Sal.

1. Usually between 3 and 3.5 inches
2. Opening packaging (everything comes in bulletproof packaging these days), cutting tape, paper, cutting food, and every little thing we all appreciate knives for.
3. Every single minute since I was 16 (it all started with a Spydie Q)
Good luck Sal

1. My EDC knife blade lengths range from 2 1/8 to 4.25 inches.
2. Everyday, mundane taks, such as cutting string, plastic, opening mail, cutting boxes, scraping caked-up grass out of the lawn mower, cutting line for a weed-wacker, sharpening pencils, cutting PVC pipe, pruning trees and other yard trimming work, occasionally harvesting game, and if lives depend on it I'll use my knife for self-defense as a last option.
3. I've carried at least a small pocket knife everywhere (including to school) since about age 7.
Sal, keep us posted on the progress of the case, if possible. And let us know if you need any more help.

Hi Sal,
Blade length varies from 2.5 to about 3.5 inches. Use it around the office for opening mail and small packages and for food prep. Got my first half way decent one at about eight or nine. Started carrying one regularly at fourteen, when I got a job in a store. I've had one in my pocket darn near every day for the last 45 years.

1.) My normal carry is the Cricket - that
would be about 2" of blade.
2.) Utility - paper, boxes, anything the
Cricket's serrated edge will cut
3.) I didn't start carrying knives until
1982 - that made me 20yrs old
If you're trying to get a generalized pattern or demograph you might
find yourself wanting - people carry
for alot of reasons and not all of us
started at an early age. Statistics rarely
impress judges - it's much better to use
the facts at hand and the "reasonable man's
standard" to get to the bottom of thing's.

1. 1-4 inch blade length. EDC two folders one small (Jester) one larger Calypso, Police.
2. Use knives for all daily tasks like cutting carton boxes, opening boxes, cutting tape, during lunch, cutting rope, cutting wrap foil, cutting isolation materials, cutting webbing and leather, etc.
3. at 6 year of age when I first joined the Boy Scouts. First pocket knife was a present from my father.
Clipits work!

Hello Sal, I am a communications technician. I live in Kentucky. I am 50 now. I have been carrying a lockblade since I was 23. I use my knife for multiple reasons, none of which is self defense. I cut and strip cable. Prepare cable connectors for installation. Open boxes and crates, scrape punchblocks to remove old labelling. I also use a multi-tool for basic dis-assembly work. My Current EDC is the Assist 2 knife.
Thanks for such good knifes, Roger

I normally carry 2 - 3 knives. One will be a 3 to 4 inch blade (usually a Native) the other is on my key chain with a 1 1/2 inch blade (a Jester).
I use my knife most often to open mail or food packaging.
I started carrying a knife (a boy scout style folder) around age 8 and followed this up with a fixed blade sheath knife at age 10. I spent summers living at a cottage on Lake Superior in Northern Ontario - a knife was a necessity and I've been carrying one ever since (40+ years)
Hope this helps!
