Overlooked, Obscure Models Deserving Of A Sprint Run?
Overlooked, Obscure Models Deserving Of A Sprint Run?
In the past few months there has been more talk about many of Spyderco's obscure models. I'm speaking of many older, past models that didn't hit big at the box office but later on they accrued significantly more popularity as time went on. Two models that immediately come to mind are the KRIS and the CAPTIAN models. But there are far more models that fit that category that I feel would do really well with a face lift of newer/better materials.
Another two obscure models that have risen in popularity since their deletion are the SLYSZ BOWIE and the TUFF. Actually there are quite a few more models that could qualify. So which of the past obscure models would you all like to see return in a Sprint RUN? With the modest success that the more recent C-60 Cruwear Ayoob I think that there are several that might be worthy of a discussion. And some of them could even be successful in a second time around.
What say you all?

Re: Overlooked, Obscure Models Deserving Of A Sprint Run?
Both the Slysz Bowie and Tuff have had semi-recent exclusive runs, so I’m not sure if Sal and Eric would have them as high-priority sprint run candidates. As for the older Japanese models, I’m guessing the Moki factory is still coming back up to speed and it may be some time before sprints start rolling out of there again. I’m also guessing the time of Micarta, beautiful bolsters and hidden pins has unfortunately passed - these days it’s pretty much all G10. Cheers, Radioactive

I would love a Street Bowie with micarta or carbon fiber handle inserts. The squishy rubber inserts in the handle grab clothing enough that it causes printing, instead of sliding over a harder material.

I'd like to see another run of the Lum Tanto. Been wanting one of the jade G-10 variants for awhile but they're all so expensive (and rare!) on eBay.
A Slysz Bowie sprint would probably sell like hotcakes.

Catcherman.
It's both longer and lighter than a standard Pacific Salt.
Run it in any of the salt steels in PE or CE and I'm in.
Unrealistic bonus request: Modern clip. Never was a fan of the molded on clips.
It's an awesome knife for CC, but it has that fatal flaw.
I'd even be fine with a handle like the Street Beat lightweight. The index choil is deep enough I'm not too worried about my hand slipping.

I think people would line up around the block for a version of the Catcherman.
For me a Street Bowie in a tool steel and G10 or Micarta scales would really tickle me.

PPT
Terzuola (either model)

Re: Overlooked, Obscure Models Deserving Of A Sprint Run?
Fully agree!
Even though it has already seen two sprints, the PPT Perrin is still sorely overlooked and absolutely deserves another run! I would be ecstatic to see an REC Exclusive PPT Perrin but I’d welcome any new run of that knife! It deserves more love and should be appreciated by more people.
I also think a Cruwear/Micarta version of the Terzuola Slipit would be sellout sprint run. That design is just screaming for some micarta scales in my opinion.

I'd buy both of these. They're so in demand that everyone else probably would too.

I know there's already been a sprint run, but I really want a Jot Singh Khalsa. So that's my vote
Re: Overlooked, Obscure Models Deserving Of A Sprint Run?
Oooo the Catcherman always looks so cool, I've wanted one of those for a while as well. Maybe in LC200N and lime green FRN? Or H2 and yellow FRN?
And YES to a modern clip

The Slyz Bowie might not be obscure, but I’d buy one. More interesting is the Catcherman. That looks like a phenomenal knife.
