Quite expensive, but I'm sure it was quite a feat getting the 31 layer damascus into this package. Eric also mentioned in the KnifeCenter Blade Show (2023) video that this Nishijin is the last of the stock that they have from ~15 years ago and is the exact same that has been featured in all of the blue Nishijin sprints over the years. I'm not so sure this one will "stick around" long enough to become deeply discounted, or even reach a deep discount, because of these factors. I've heard nothing short of rave reports from those who have purchased any of these Nishijin sprints.

VG-10 is indeed completely fine. But I still think there are better alloys out there. All just splitting hairs (maybe literally…).
Anyone know what alloys are being used for the pattern welded cladding?
Is there going to be a Blue Nishijin S2XL with CruWear blade?
Is there going to be a Blue Nishijin S2XL with CruWear blade?
Possibly. It depends on whether I like the damascus or the silver CruWear better with the Nishijin scales.
I’m definitely thinking to do that as well, I think it will look very nice swapped over. I swapped a straight spine Stretch blade into the brown G10 frame and I was struck by how there were 2 washers on one side of the pivot and one on the other side. Only by putting them back in the original configuration did the whole setup line up properly. I’ve done a lot of Spydie blade and scale swaps and that’s one I won’t forget because of course I didn’t pay attention to which side the two washers originally came off of and put it together wrong the first time.
Speaking of swaps, another great one was to put the CF scales on the CQI’d Kapara 20CV run, and that new Subvert looks like a perfect big brother. I’m very excited that Spyderco is doing this one!!
