Sal- PM2 Bowie

#1

Post by Unluckycharm »

Sal, any update on the PM2 Bowie? I am looking everyday for a hint or update. Will it be launched this year? Any steels besides sv30/45 that will be utilized for this launch? Will this be a sprint run only to judge consumer demand?
MIf you need a test subject left me know. I can put a knife through the wringer and provide an update.

Really looking forward to this one Sal.

Hi Charm,

Eric's design, his project. W're pretty busy in the factory so getting new stuff in queue is challenging. Patience is a good character trait.

I would guess that they will be a regular in production model, so not to stress. Even if they come out as a Sprint, I'm sure Eric will make plenty of them.

I've noticed your list of knives growing extremely quickly, slow down a bit and enjoy what you've got. Learn your likes and dislikes from all these models. When your in the honeymoon phase with all these knives, because you acquire them so quickly, you never get to KNOW these knives. Slow down and enjoy the ride!

I was surprised by how polarizing it seemed to be when we first saw it, but I think it will grow on people.

I’m going to try to do a blade swap with a Cruwear Micarta PM2 because I think the micarta will look better with a Bowie blade.
I think one of the aftermarket backspacers will add to the look and also give better balance.

I do actually agree about serrations.
I would have to get one for my dad if they come out in Combination Edge.

Bowie-bladed Spydercos are cool, but I’m also interested in this because it seems like a good alternative to the Tanto PM2.

Sal, now that the PM2 & Para 3 officially use S45VN as their base steel, does that mean all the aftermarket blade shapes (such as this Bowie) will come standard with S45VN? That is assuming the distributor did not request a specific steel for the run like M4, XHP, S90v, etc.

I ask because I'm eager to try Spyderco's S45VN and new blade shapes also peak my interest.

Hi MidnightCoalCo.

Welcome to our forum.

Hey Dull&blunt,

I thought that I welcomed you, but in case I didn't, welcome to our forum.

On the Bowie, I'll leave that call up to Eric.

Yes sir, I believe you did welcome me to the forums once before. I feel privileged to be welcomed here :cheap-sunglasses My posts continued to need to be approved before appearing so I assume it was a technical error.

Thank you for your answer. I'll probably purchase one regardless of the steel, but S45VN would be a cherry on the top of a new PM2 blade shape! Assuming SMKW did not request their normal M4, which I'd prefer over the S45VN.

The pm2 Tanto blade is a work of art from Eric. Imho this Bowie blade looks less appealing.
