I still haven’t been able to put it down. The Caly jr. Is such a beautifully, purely refined functional piece of a modern/urban living utility edc knife, and just everything uniquely spyderco.
Maybe they will sprint a new version for us, if we ask nicely?
Yes we can only hope, I try to encourage more sprints of the Caly family just by mentioning them and showing support for them on the forum most of the time I’m engaging on the forum. I feel they’re too good to be as under appreciated and under noticed as they are, and they at least should be more around then they are for people to appreciate them nowadays and not have to spend so much extra to get one in a secondary market system. Outta curiosity what would your ideal version of materials be on the caly jr pattern ?

I like the lightweight linerless FRN quite a bit, especially in fish-scale, and for a smaller blade like the Caly Jr has, I'd like to see a high-edge-retention, modest-toughness steel. Anything on the curve from M4 to S90V would suit me. (Though clad ZDP gives me nothing to complain about.) What about you?
I’m not too informed on steels so I couldn’t really choose from what range of steel, I like a balanced steel that sharpens and touches up nicely. Something upgraded from vg-10 would get my interest, cts xhp, k390.. perhaps. I’m really loving the look of this gray sprint run fishscale FRN, BRG would be my personal second favorite choice of color in the frn. The old school looking micarta with the stainless pivot and pins has gotta be my favorite version of the Caly jr., it really is quite beautiful.

It does feel great in the hand and has a high deep hollow grind that leaves it very thin a long way above the edge. Amazing slicer and great for food prep. Very cool and capable knife in general and impeccable Taichung fit and finish.
