ran across this gem today. i'm sure some of you have seen it already, but i hadn't yet, despite watching quite a few gb2 reviews around the time of posting this thread. anyway, i always love seeing designer intent.
Great video, thanks for sharing LB.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

tangentially related to the gb2, i noticed yesterday some spotting on my cruwear ayoob and about a week ago i found a spot on my 15v manix. these two knives were my testing grounds for whether or not i really needed stainless or salt knives. they seemed fine in coastal virginia, but apparently not in florida. i'm not sure why i needed to test these steels... i've had vg10 develop spots too.

anyway, i was seriously considering getting a k390 delica wharncliffe and the gb2 as well, but i think it's probably not the best idea. patina is one thing, but reddish brown spots is another. it looks like these steels are just not going to be in the cards for me.

now, even more than when i first posted this thread, i'd like to get a gb2 in a stainless steel. i guess i should be glad they've been out of stock and i haven't been able to buy one yet.

it would be really cool to see a magnacut gb2 though. please make it happen, spyderco! i would love a magnacut blade with a high hollow grind.

I would be down for any GB2 exclusive. Magnacut would be very nice.

I would love to own the finished product but I’m not so sure the GB is an ideal platform for a Salt knife. Lots of liners and extra steel make it that much more difficult to achieve the corrosion resistance necessary to fall under the “Salt” moniker.

that's fair. the subject has come up a lot, but i don't care if it's actually classified as a salt knife. many of us were surprised to see magnacut labeled as a salt steel and just wanted to try it. i wish we weren't waiting for it to be dialed in perfectly as a salt and it could be used in standard models like the manix without concern over the salt level corrosion resistance. i supposed even s30v would be fine. i'd just prefer magnacut and ti liners. of course that would probably make the cost astronomical.

I'd love a MagnaCut+Silver Twill combo in a GB2. Or a Kapara :D

It would probably need to be made with linerless titanium scales like the Chef, which is a big jump towards being a totally different knife. Then again they did make the Caribbean and Autonomy with liners, so it could be done either way, for a price.

I'd love a GB1 sprint run in Magnacut. Or any steel really, but Magnacut would make the most sense for such a knife !
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

well, it's not a salt, but the cruwear exclusive gives me hope. i got some light spotting on my ayoob, so i'm not sure this one is for me. i might as well just get m4 instead of cruwear. but, for those that said the gb2 wouldn't come in another steel because gb used m4 and designed this knife, at least we see it can be done now.

i'd still be down for a magnacut gb2 with micarta, even if it wasn't considered a salt. i'd also be down for other stainless steels like s35vn or s45v.

are you all excited for cruwear?

Moving in the right direction LB. I thought of you when a friend told me about these. The great thing about Jade G10 is it will take a dye very well.
