All this time I thought the sharpest object was my wit.

Good video. Sharpness seems more like sorcery when viewed through the lense of that video.

Re: The sharpest object in the world can't cut anything
Thanks for sharing! Really fun and interesting watch. Kinda brought it full circle and at the end, the true definition of sharp Is our wits ability to study “the edge” create cutting tools in the first place.
Re: The sharpest object in the world can't cut anything
Wow. That is a very helpful video. Some nice animation visualization of basic edge concepts. Good insights into the complexity of the sharpness topic. And a big shout out to our stone age DNA for some of the sharpest knives.
Re: The sharpest object in the world can't cut anything
I just watched the video. The Cliff's Notes version would be something like, "The sharpness of the edge depends on what you're intending to cut." Smooth vs coarse vs Spydie Edge -- while cutting ripe tomatoes, cardboard, or wooden twigs. The term "sharpest edge" is too vague a term without further defining what is intended to be cut.

Like many things we can now observe at the atomic level, we are waiting for Quantum Mechanics to catch up. I really found this vid fascinating. Sharpness depends on what is used to cut, what is being cut, motion and speed, and how we are observing the interaction between the two objects. No such thing as black and white any more.

My wit must have dulled over the years. It took a long time for that to reach its target!
