Outstanding! My next backpacking knife! Light enough to carry, big enough to make a difference! Wow!
Along with whatever they did to the lock to ensure it's strong enough, I can't be more interested in this knife right now.
It's definitely got my interest as well! Sub 2 oz back (mid) lock knife w/ four inch blade? Outstanding! and if those specs hold true, I will be buying one when they become available.

EDIT, just did the calculations on my "ratio" spreadsheet, and this new LW Native positively blows other knives out of the water with its extreme ratio of blade length to weight, as well as edge length to weight. No other ratios even come close. The LW Chief is certain to become a preferred backpacking knife! Thank you Spyderco!!
I immediately thought of you when i held this production sample…
Then i filled in a review paper that said needs heavy liners…
(Just kidding )
Can’t help the feeling that the chief gives me. I think people that look at you when you hold it 100% surely think they are going to get stabbed. Its so extremely pointy!

The stretch looked even better in real life for me , although Wouters pics are amazing as always.
And by the way not only did it look good it handled very very well aswel.
The Spyderco Native Chief Lightweight was another large folder that was shown at the 2023 Amsterdam Meet. The first thing I noticed when handling it, was the weight. Or rather the lack of weight. There are no liners in the handle of the Native Chief Lightweight. Combined with such a large blade, the lightweight effect in the hand is striking.
This is amazing (as usual!), thank you so much Wouter for all your efforts. This to me is by far the best annual thread on this forum, and I’m very glad to see it return!
That blue Nishijin Stretch XL is beautiful but those Nishijin Stretches are darn slippery being such a large knife, now they’re doing an even larger one! Given that there already is a blue (and black) Nishijin Stretch, I’m a bit disappointed they didn’t go with the Dragonfly to complete that blue and black series. I have several Nishijin Spydies and the stuff really only shines in the little knives IMHO, as I said the big ones are just too slippery. The price will be way up there too, so these might sit on shelves for a long while. I don’t think the Dfly would have had that problem. I’m sad to read they’re likely out of the material and no other models are forthcoming. Cheers, Radioactive

The Nishijin and Cru-wear Stretch XL is probably the only version with liners that I would ever have been interested in, at least I am realizing that now.
Thank you very much for the report and excellent photographs! The work is well appreciated and a highlight of my day.
I happen to be interested in all three of the knives featured so far too, so it's just a real treat all around!

Thank you Wouter for sharing the pictures and info! This is a great thread.
That Nishjin Stretch XL looks really intriguing...
I'm curious about the handle on the Military 2. Reviews I've seen on the current Military indicate the handle is more chamfered than that of the PM2, but in the pictures of the Military 2 the handle edges look similar to the PM2. Any thoughts?
Wouter , thank you posting these pictures. It has always been a highlight to view your shots from Amsterdam, I have never been disappointed. MG2

Wow the FRN Native Chief is almost as light as the Benchmade Bugout
Gotta be a typo, the Salt 2 LC200N is 1.9 oz.
If it’s not a typo then it’s a freak of nature…very intrigued
It must be a typo, 100%. I mean the Native 5 LW - I guess pretty similar construction, but a lot smaller - is 2.5 oz. 2.9 for the Chief LW would be amazing already and make it a stiff competition for the Stretch XL LW
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)
Thanks once more, Wouter, for your effort!
Much appreciated! Very good pics, as always.
- That Stretch XL looks amazing! I love the model in its lw iteration, but this would be a "heavyweight version" I could not resist.
- Chief LW is something I gotta try! Great design anyway, for me personally the perfect regular EDC size and now with the benefits of FRN (contoured, a bit lighter) I so hope it will come in SE too...

Thanks, Wouter. Glad to see these pictures and glad you are better. I hope you got one of the new straight razor.

Thank you, sir! You may not realize it, but you solved a big problem for me.
I REALLY like the looks of the Stretch 2 XL, and Cru-Wear makes it nearly irresistable. I've been strong, and have been able to hold on to my cash. Now that you've leaked the Nishijin version, the regular S2XLCW is out of the question. I don't want it anymore. I want the pretty one. I'll wait for however long it takes. It's Nishijin or Bust.
