I messaged Peter and asked him about the changes and he said "Not sure. I don’t have the old one to see. I know it’s thicker and more robust".

Great video, thanks for sharing. The CQI updates look great. I think it’s great that a company is continually evaluating their products and updating them if necessary, that’s a big win.

It’s not my video but it was worth the share. I’ll give my 3 cents when I get mine

MidwayUSA... https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1020528317?pid=752039
Note: Not sure if it matters but the only Spydie I've ordered from them arrived, unscathed, loose in a padded envelope. Not sure if the video that Fireman posted is correct?... Do these come in a zipper case with no box? Or is that just SFO?

Edit: Out of stock

I watched the video and, aside from the removal of the detent ball ramp it looks just like the one I have. It doesn't appear to be any beefier. The lockbar looks the same etc. Which is good IMO because, as I mentioned in the other thread, I like the handle just like it is. Making it beefier would detract from it

I had heard about a few people having issues with the stop pin coming out (no issues with mine) but I wasn't aware of the ramp-lock up issue until I watched this video. I didn't even notice that I can see the ramp when the knife is open. Thankfully the lock up on mine is at about 50% and it's solid. I tried flexing the knife and putting downward pressure on the lock bar and I can't feel any flexing or movement. Lock stick doesn't usually bother me much but if mine stuck like the one in the video I might not be too thrilled about that. As the guy mentions in the vid, the lock bar is flush with the handle on the other side and there isn't much room to get your thumb in there. The inside of both sides is beveled and it allows you to get enough purchase on the lockbar to push it over. It does make your thumb a little sore if you open and close the knife a few times. It's a non-issue with me because I don't usually continuously open and close the knife. While watching the vid and typing this post I've opened and closed the knife several times and I can feel it. Lock stick would make it much worse.

Buddafuco posted the EBAY link above and there's still two available as of this post. I was really tempted to order one just to be able to compare the two but it would be kind of waste of money for me. I'm so happy with the one I got from the online seconds sale that it would be dumb for me to buy another one just for comparison. I'll let someone else do the comparison and I'll continue to carry and enjoy the one I already have. Besides I have to buy the SNK Millie that's dropping at the end of the week.

I hope those who want a Paysan are able to get one. It's one of those knives that once you get it you go OMG this thing's fantastic haha
Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most!

Are the knives dropping the first of the CQI versions or more that they’re generally out of stock?

Seems like how the Kapara was sold out for a while but then came back with the CQI and now more generally available.

Got an email from Knife Center about my preorder Paysan from 2 years ago. Just went through. For those of you that got an old preorder, check your email. Knife Center asked me to confirm with them by two business days or it will be cancelled. I did speak with a customer service representative, they got some in but did not fill my 2022 Black Friday order (better priced) due to availability. First come first serve they said. Customer service was unable to confirm Paysan amounts. Good thing I kept my old preorder. 😅 They are fulfilling preorders oldest to newest first.

Two years!? That is nuts, my preorder was only 10 months old from them. I was able to snag one, it has shipped, from bear and claw. I cancelled my KC order once I got shipping information- I doubt I would have made the cut, so in retrospect I guess it was a good move. The people who have the reduced pricing from last year when MAP was lifted, you got a great deal if it is not axed from the line up.

Yeah, at 2021 price of $560 + CA sales tax. So in it for $611.80. I wasn't sure it will get fulfilled, and been missing the other dealers drops. Most important, is one to be added to the collection soon.
