How likely is this to drop in DLC as well?

On BladeHQ’s instagram page someone asked this question and BladeHQ answered “possibly…”

Also, on BladeHQ’s instagram page, they have confirmed that this model is pinned together and does not have screw together construction.

Yes, thanks. Odd that when I called BHQ they said "No way we'll know until we have the order here." Then on their Insta page, they fess up and say "Yes, pinned." Left hand, meet right hand.

Thanks for confirming!

/ ... Again, to all that are interested but worried about "rusty pivots on tool steel blades":

My REX 45 Manix LW has developed no such problems at all, as far as I can tell: Though I can´t really inspect the pivot (pinned construction!) there is no change whatsover concerning action and / or play, despite the knife gets used and carried a lot in wet and sweaty conditions.
. Also, the area of the blade that sits inside the scales, but still gets "uncovered" and can be seen when the blade is opened and closed, shows no sign of corrosion but is actually "shinier" than the rest of the blade.

I have a theory (really just that, perhaps complete nonsense) that actually by frequently opening and closing the blade rust that begins to form is removed again from the pivot area by that motion. A bit like sharpening removes beginning rust from the edge.
But then, with just opening and closing there is probably not enough friction involved to really remove rust.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

If true to form on these, BHQ will be releasing a DLC version after this. Really pops against the mint green.

Do the AWT Agent scales fit? AWT website says no, but if all that's getting reused is the blade, bearing, and cage then it should fit. They might just not want the warranty headache of people cracking open their pinned knives.

not compatible. the metal piece that houses the lock is different between the g10 and lw versions.

i'm hoping these liner delete manufacturers will make lw compatible models now that they have screws.

A way to heavy-up the lightweight models?

i'm not crazy about "mineral blue" but i'd like a spy27 manix and a manix with ti scales. two birds and such.

Anybody seen a drop date for these or do we just need to wait for the notification from Blade HQ? I am all over this. Pinned or not.

I’d be stoked if this was a Manix 2XL with Green Canvas Micarta and M4.
There are plenty around with jade green G10 and M4. They have been produced in S90V and carbon fiber and I can attest to the fact that these were slow sellers, and then there is the upcoming model with Cruwear.

This new model looks interesting. I don't care about pins vs. screws, I don't mind the color, and I really like M4 but I already have a couple of the LW with Rex45 that should last me for a long time.

Interesting email exchange with Spyderco:

Me: Is the upcoming Blade HQ Manix Mint Green M4 pinned or screwed construction? BHQ doesn't know, they said to ask you. Thanks.

Spyderco: Thanks for reaching out! All of the Manix models that are currently produced will be the screw construction. The Blade HQ Manix will be screw construction as well. Let us know if you need anything else!

We’re getting conflicting reports.

The photos clearly show that it is pinned and the BladeHQ social media team also said it is pinned because they took the promotional photos of the actual knife. (Where did they claim they don’t know? I’ve only seen the opposite.) Now someone from Spyderco is claiming otherwise? :thinking

Intentionally or not, either BladeHQ or Spyderco is sharing incorrect information.
