Forum Knife Poll 2024
Forum Knife Poll 2024
For those of you who don’t want to burrow through the nearby “Forum Knife???” thread, here’s a link to the poll that’s now running, at Sal's behest (or at least, implication)…
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SPYFORUM2024
Started @ 1:20 pm Spyderco Time, Feb 13. Votes are being counted. One vote per person please.
You may want to put comments in the other thread (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=94300), this is just a 'courtesy alert' so you don't have to hunt through multiple pages to find the link.

Re: Forum Knife Poll 2024 is now Live
I would suggest doing the poll on the Forum instead of a link so only eligible voters can only vote once. Very easy to push this poll any way.
Also, the Lil Native is available in a wharncliff as well for another option.
Micarta would be a nice option too.
If you don’t know how to do it I will certainly help.

Actually one can already only vote once in the existing poll as far as I see.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Sorry, respectfully disagree. Multi-question polls don't play well with this forum's software. The survey is only advertised on this forum. SM has setting for only one vote. I don't think we'll have presidential-style shennanigans; I don't think the dead will be voting. Poll was vetted this morning with lots of input from other forumites, sorry you didn't input there. Options were guided by Sal's input, please see the other thread. Micarta not offered as an option.
I've asked folks to vote just once. Play nice, people. One vote per.

Very surprised to see the lil pulling ahead so convincingly.

I voted for one of each. Leave them or pull them both it’s up to you.
I don’t remember Sal saying no micarta. But that can always be done later!

I dunno; if there are far short of 1000 responses, as per Sal's preferred number for a run (see the sister thread), there may be no forum knife at all.

I'm surprised to see the LN pull ahead. I've used both and there is no way I would choose LN over UKPK. More money saved, I guess.

Re: Forum Knife Poll 2024 is now Live
Houston, we have a problem.
I just pulled the raw data, and one respondent has managed to find a way around Survey Monkey's one-vote limit. Don't know how they did that, but we have 52 votes from the same respondent, all voting for the Lil Native in the same way. About 2 votes per minute from this one respondent.
It's easy enough to simply delete the results of this duplicator. I'm going to turn off "instant results" so that the one duplicator isn't influencing others, or the results. This makes it a little more time consuming to get results, but let me see what I can do here.

Learning moment for me. I contacted SM and found out how to use their methods for eliminating "cheater" duplicates, and I'll be employing "duplicate protection" on this dataset.

Quite the task you took on here, Bolster.
Weird and disappointing that anyone even remotely connected to this forum would find any gratification from skewing the survey result.
Appreciate your effort and hope it proves worthwhile in the end.

You know what I voted for 78 times Bolster. I still don't see the Manix on there.
Seriously though, good grief. You can't have anything nice.

Thanks, and my pleasure! There's always a couple of bad apples in every bushel, but the rest of the apples are very good apples. And there's an easy fix for the bad apples -- throw them out.
For my part, I don't have a dog in this fight. I'm one of those who voted "No Purchase." Don't need another slippie.
JSumm: To vote for the Manix, you have to put $10 in 78 envelopes and send them to me. Thought I'd already explained that.
