I would buy any Forum Knife that Spyderco made as long as it was a left-handed PM2 with a serrated CPM-15V blade with fire engine red G10 scales.

Sal, does a forum knife have to be “special” ? Can we just have a production knife that’s engraved? I think modern problems call for modern solutions. This could be a memento of how strained supply chains are right now.

ETA: Maybe a Byrd knife even.

Not a bad idea.

In another thread someone suggested offering Uptern’s with our forum names engraved on them. I think it was maybe Standy99 that first had this idea. Personally I like this idea but would also like to see the year and “Spyderco Forum” on a forum knife too.

I wonder what it would take to commission our own run? I’m sure that companies get batches engraved for their employees- could we do something like that?

Maybe they could follow suit with HH and go with FK and date below vs engraving across the top of the blade.

Color will need to be teal as we can’t even agree on what color teal is. However, in this case it will be the dark green teal and will be forever known as “forum teal” and reserved for forum knives only.

So UKPK in forum teal and SPY27 with leaf blade, and the follow up year in drop point.

Easy Peasy,

Some good ideas here, but wayment.

Does this mean...if some forumite collected the $$ from us, up front (and didn't abscond to Aruba with it), we could put in a sprint/exclusive order, like a dealership?

I wonder what the minimum order size / cost is, for a sprint or exclusive.

With the expansion going on I’m not sure they have the resource to do that amount of set up. I’d be happy with a forum UpTern. It’s very fitting for the times. China made Byrd crossover with an optimistic name!

An engraved standard production knife sounds not unreasonable…

As does the idea to use SPY27.

The idea of the forum putting funds together to commission an “exclusive” is also interesting. I can absolutely see that not getting off the ground, though!

I think the closest we got was a UKPK in Spy-27 in Blue G10 with Forum Knife written on the backspacer. I believe that was Sal's last suggestion.
I would be fully up for this.

Of course, because of the last thread on it, a UKPK in SPY27 would be an instant sale for me.

Does anyone know if a group (guess who), who pre-pays in a lump sum, could order a sprint/exclusive from Spyderco? Or is that ability reserved for dealers only?

Yeah, good question.

At first sight it should not make much of a difference for Spyderco.

But at second glance it maybe does:

- Making an exclusive for an actual dealer could mean doing a favor for someone who CONSTANTLY does business with Spyderco and actually always sells their products.
Not the case with a "group".

- Making it for a "group" means really just for that beforehand defined group, while an exclusive for a dealer might draw new customers to Spyderco.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Cheese & rice. OK. let's talk forum knife.

First of all, we would prefer to make them in Golden which isn't likely for at least a year. 2024.
2) We would need to have a model.
3) We would need to have a blade steel, which in my opinion should be SPY27.
4) If we use SPY27, we have to use a handle color that would be as close too Cobalt Blue as possible.
5) We need a blade shape and grind.
6) We need a target quantity and a minimum of 1,000 is better for us, though in the past, selling 1,000 forum knives has not been an easy task. Maybe a poll?
7) In my opinion, in order to respect our esteemed guests not in the USA, a non-locker would probably be the best direction.

With those thoughts in mind, are we still in the conversation?

UKPK, G-10, SPY27 - blade shape?
Lil' Native Slip joint - SPY27 - blade shape?

Engraving; Where, what,

Definitely Lil Native Slipjoint with the normal blade shape!!! SPY27 and Cobalt Blue G10 sounds awesome too!

I think the engraving should be kept as simple and unobtrusive as possible on the right side of the blade - “Spyderco Forum 2024.”
