Just found and ordered a new Manix 2 ....

And, Mongo, I have to say:

Amazing how you joined the forum merely two weeks ago but already show the enabler-skills of a seasoned forumite... ',:-| ..... ;)

.... though I am actually more than happy with my REX 45 burnt orange Manix LW, now I want a translucent blue BD1N variant too once more

Here are some pics of the one I had... oh those romantic memories... :grin-sweat

LOL🤣 Your Manix 2 is well traveled. I expect to receive a post card when M2 goes to see the Mayan Ruins in Mexico and the Stargate of the Sun at Pumapunku.

Well, I am a lucky man in that none of the locations shown in the pics is more than 5 miles away from where I live... not too much travelling involved ;)

But I'll make sure that my next blue Manix and I will get to those places you listed! (Especially Stargate should be an easy one... :winking-tongue )

My para 3 has 110 and it was kinda pricey. Guess I went the other direction here 😏

When you have a high corrosion-resistant steel (eg, S110V), screw construction becomes a lot less important. I wonder, after screw construction becomes more prevalent, if there will be any deals to be had on those "unpopular pinned" models.

slight de-rail:

I personally don't disassemble my folders to clean as part of regular maintenance. I use a shot of brake clean or water to rinse them out, shop air to blow them out and then add a drop of some kind of oil or transmission fluid in the pivot afterwards. never had any issues in function. I use a salt knife when I need to and likewise, just pick one for the occasion at other times. I understand why people like it, but I also liked the loctite from the factory because I don't disassemble my knives unless absolutely necessary and im not quite sure when that would be, for me.
[

but Id absolutely buy another pinned manix if they discounted them :hugging-face

Congrats! I've got 2 transluscent M2 LWs, a blue BD1N and a green 20CV. Finding a sunny backdrop for a good pic is a challenge round these parts at this time of year. I'll just let 'em hibernate till Spring and use my G10-based models for the nonce.

I'm not unhappy with the pinned construction but gonna hafta try a screwed-construction LW at some point. Maybe if they could intro a new translucent color in an interesting steel... Say an orange XHP or a yellow translucent Salt?

I actually have no problems whatsoever even with my REX 45 Manix LW (pinned of course), despite using it for food prep and a lot in rain, snow and damp conditions. Even carry it iwb on long, sweaty trailruns and don't even apply oil anymore...

Converted my SPY 27 to screws and this is what I found after opening up. This knife was pretty lightly used, and kept out pretty clean in my opinion.

I just don't see why pinned would be preferred over screwed construction. If you're worried about screws backing out (never had that happen personally) there's red Loctite. If you ever happen to need to access the knife for cleaning, heat the screws up to loosen, clean, and throw Loctite back on.

Got the M2 today. Did not have time to look at it, tossed it on my tool box and headed for work.

I am looking at it now, it is a pinned handle with one screw at the pivot point of the blade and I'm okay with it.

Am I following? You're not saying that the knife needed opening for that, are you? Isn't that just a little lubricant I see? I'm not seeing rust or corrosion...but then, I'm not in the room with ya.

IWB? I must admit that I have never done that.

Iwb-carry generally does not work for me too well either (some others here like it a lot).

But in running shorts with no pockets or shorts /pants with just thin garment and floppy pockets it is the only or at least still best way to carry a folder, especially when being active (running, climbing...).

It really exposes the blade to sweat though, but this has never been a problem for me even with non stainless steels like REX 45. Others here obviously have a lot more "corrosive sweat" [Vivi, where are you?]

/ Btw: Does your Manix feature BD1 or BD1N steel now?
