i'm not sure why i never responded send to this thread or survey since the manix is my favorite knife. i know a lot of people are interested in more knives with this lock, but i think it would be nice to see some new models rather than a just a smaller manix or something like that.
i'd really be interested in a 3" blade with as close to a 3" cutting edge as possible in a gentleman's folder type design. ideally, it would still have full thumb hole access and a thin, narrow blade in a lightweight package (not frn) with a deep carry wire clip that will ride nicely in dress slacks.
this is literally the first thought i've given to this, so i'm going to try and come up with a design.

Re: Poll: more CBBL
IIRC the CBBL requires a finger choil or other cutout in the blade, because of its height and being inline with the pivot.
I am all for more different designs and sizes with the CBBL.
One issue regarding size of handle, depending on the user, will be spring rate. Many Manix users report needing to palm the butt of the knife to pull the lock back.
Vivi and Wartstein notably do it with one finger. I have relatively strong hands and still use thumb and finger in tandem to actuate the CBBL.
The CBBL just nudges out the Comp Lock for me as a close second to my favorite-- the back lock.

I’ve never liked benchmades detent. Is cbbl a weak flicker?

Re: Poll: more CBBL
In my opinion the detent and retention on a CBBL is perfect and smooth. It different than the Axis lock.
I do usually palm the Manix to close but it doesn't bother me. It's still ambidextrous and easy to manipulate, even with gloves. It is also plenty easy and fast to manipulate with two hands.
The P'kal does not have a finger choil and uses the CBBL. Spyderco has plenty of ingenuity to come up with another CBBL design.

Re: Poll: more CBBL
As a left hander, its my favorite knife lock. Sold of my benchmade autos, and most of the folders, but saved a couple axis lockers because I love it so much. Flick in flick out. My 531 I removed the blade stud from. Its fun to watch people ask for a knife, give them that, and try and figure out how to open it.
The caged ball bearing on the manix I like better than the axis lock. For many reasons.

Re: Poll: more CBBL
I'm not a huge fan of comp locks and spyderco has a back lock for every possible situation at this point, so it'd be nice to see more CBBLs. It seems like it'd be hard to top the manix 2 and XL though. Maybe a smaller knife? I don't know how much slimmer you could make a CBBL knife but something more like a chaparral size would be nice.
It has a stronger detent than an axis lock, but it's more like a back lock than something with a detent. Back locks snap shut until they're opened to about 45 degrees while CBBLs only do it for the first 10 degrees or so. They're not the best for flicking but they're not terrible.
