CBBL (not BBL) is mine and many others' favorite lock. Please don't shoot down ideas that others are begging for. There are plenty of other lock types for you to enjoy without trying to kill one you happen to not like. All we get are a 3 Manixes and the odd/overpriced P'kal.Eww, is this still a thing? I'm not drunk enough to buy another CBBL!
I only tolerate the BBL on the Dodo because it's such a good knife design. Anything else gets no love from this guy.

Re: Poll: more CBBL
I am courious: Why do you dislike the CBBL?
For me it's my second favorite lock, close behind the mid backlock.
Only slight drawback I can see is that one always has to rest the rear end of the knife somewhat in the palm in order to operate the CBBL. This has never been an issue for me personally though.
(Maybe we have had this discussion already, can't remember if it was in fact you or some other member...)
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Re: Poll: more CBBL
I would love to try CBBL. But manix is too small, so only real option is the XL. And I like that knife, maybe next year I will buy it.
Dream model would be something like Caribbean, around 4 inch blade, nice big handle, no choil but I can live with it.

This thread deserves a revival, so thanks for doing that! :)
/ Specifically on a Chief with a CBBL I personally feel a bit partial.
For one I´d love to see more CBBL knives, regardless in which design
On the other hand I think I still prefer the especially good Golden Backlock even over a CBBL
And then I am not sure if the Chief handle would be tall enough to accommodate a CBBL?!

Hey my friend, just saw this old post of yours!
Meanwhile you DO have a CBBL (REX 45 Manix) indeed for quite some time now, so how DO you like that lock type now?!
(And has it turned out that the Manix is NOT too small for you as you thought back then? I personally view and carry it as a "small" knife, and if I do so it becomes the perhaps best "small" knife (in my personal categorization!) ever :) )

I'm pretty sure there's plenty of room on the Chief to host a CBBL.

I am no expert and you might very well be right!
It's just that the CBBL in its current form does require a not too narrow but a bit taller handle and a choil in the blade.
I think one of the reasons why the Manix has such a tall handle is the CBBL (of course the tall handle also is a large part of the great Manix ergos).

Re: Poll: more CBBL
I'm afraid the linerless construction might be the bigger problem here... so we might have to have a little more weight in the knife, adding liners to hold the CBBL. But I'm okay with that

Well, the Manix 2 LW is also almost linerless and has a CBBL...

That's true...
So on paper a CBBL Chief should work, I guess. That would be one cool knife... can we have that pls?

Would be cool if someone could post a comparison pic of Manix and Chief concerning tallness of the handle.
Optimal would be the translucent Manix 2 LW with a flashlight held to the handle, so we could see the inside and how much space the CBBL actually requires. And then if the Chief would be tall enough for the current form and shape of the CBBL too.

I think we should submit an official inquiry on the feasibility of a CBBL Chief.

Re: Poll: more CBBL
It been a while since I’ve posted but wanted to bump this. The Manix is alive and well with many new variations of steel and colors being released.
Why can’t we get any new designs using the fantastic CBBL lock?

Y'all will be interested to see the results from the recent forum survey ... due to be released around Feb 18. There is a question on the survey that compares the popularity of CBBL to other locks.
