There'll be a Stretch XL lightweight in K390, right?.. RIGHT?!

#1

Post by Wartstein »

As far as I recall Sal said that all the FRN Seki models would eventually get the K390 treatment, and so it is, right?

Now:
I sure hope that' this is also true for models that came out only AFTER he stated this... :grimace

... because the Stretch XL definitely and finally is the platform I'd love to try K390 in.
And this, despite I generally clearly prefer SE if I can get it in a "good pattern", even in PE.

What do you think? Will we see the K390 Stretch XL LW? ... and (how) soon? :smirk
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I’ll buy one. I can’t get enough Seki K390, I made a mistake by getting an Endura 4 in K390 as my first new pocket knife in 10 years. It does so many things well I’m spoiled by it, most other steels feel like a downgrade.

I got a knife in 20CV next and found myself asking: Why does it dull so fast, why it it harder to deburr it?

Carrying my XL in G-10 today and I love the feel of this knife in hand, the ergos for me are perfect. I would definitely be in for a light weight in K390.

I was gonna wait for the K390 version but I got a crazy deal on the VG10 version on Black Friday. I knew I would like it but I am surprised that it has taken over my rotation. It’s a perfect pocket knife. I will 100% buy a K390 variant.

Yes! The K390 and Salt Stretch XLs are automatic purchases for me.

I doubt it'll happen, but I wish the K390 would be linerless!

Isn't the VG-10 model linerless? If so, I'd expect the K390 to be as well.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

It is, and I am quite sure (plus hope so) a K390 version would/ will be so too..

Well, that's a great point. I sure hope you're right, and expect you are! For some reason I was thinking about the Stretch 2 and Police 4, rather than the XL itself. :zany

S2XL LW SE is a revelation! Adding K390 to the mix will be extreme in the best way possible. I'd buy 3 or 4!

EDIT: Linerless is key though..

Honestly, will be more excited about the salt version first, the construction and the country of origin just asks for that :D

That's exactly what I did. Took advantage of that sale to get my 2nd and started using it in earnest. Wow! While I love my K390, one thing this knife did for me was to open my eyes to how easy VG10 is to work with. I've really come to appreciate it despite having dozens of knives in VG10.

I agree , Vivi made me think why wait get one and try it . I’m glad I listened to his opinion, gifted my first one to a member and wasted no time to get another . I look forward to every variation , great knife . Dan

I know, yes. The List. :winking-tongue
And this knife is pretty much on top of mine.

Looking forward even to little things like how cool this blade must look with a nice patina... :smirk

Ok, probably a stupid question, but are the K390 offerings a regular offering or are they somewhat limited and when they are gone they are gone?

Asking because I was not smart enough to get a full serrated police when it was available from spycerco.com
