Well I just noticed the prices for the soon to be released Benchmade knives. Bugout in grivory is $180 and the new Tagouts in CF and G-10 are $337.50 and $270. I don't buy Benchmade for my own reasons, however, just wanted to point out that it appears or favorite EDC items are going up all over the place and that the percentages for Spyderco do not appear to be that bad in retrospect.

I just checked several dealers (BladeHQ, KnifeCenter, SMKW, GPK, KnifeWorks) for the Benchmade 535 Bugout S30V Grivory and almost all had it at $162. However, GP Knives sells it for $144 if you add it to shipping cart and continue to checkout.

The Benchmade 535 Bugout S30V Grivory at $144 is still more expensive than the Spyderco Native5 S30V FRN at $128.80.

My bad, I was just looking at the new Storm Gray and Crater Blue Bugouts that have s30v but coated blades (black and FDE) that were running at $180.

The nice thing about Spyderco Knives is they hold their value and can always be resold with little loss, in terms of use they are lifelong friends. If they have to charge more well okay I just can't buy as many but when I see something I want from Spyderco I will sacrifice elsewhere to afford it.

I notice that I am doing more customization on my existing Spydies as prices go up. I find it pretty satisfying to tinker with models that have been sitting unused in my collection. It's like getting a new knife in some cases. In fact, the last round of purchases for me happened during the MAP lifting and was centered on models that would be good candidates for upgrades.
