Normally I carry the Stretch XL SE these days, but on hikes or when mountaineering I still like to bring my trusty Pac Salt (here with sunset in the backdrop at the beginning of a night hike in still lower regions, where there is no snow at the moment).

Another Throwback Thursday... Caly Jr.

If they brought that back it would be on my "must purchase" list.

I had to remove a bit of material around the access to the lock bar. It wasn’t very comfortable, and you had to press it “just right” to get it to work reliably. It’s much better now. Who says fidgeting is a useless endeavor?

Thanks!

I see you joined the forum in August 22... right when I started to take a break till just a week ago.
So you don't know yet that soon you'll get bored with all the "amazing places pics" I tend to try to post :winking-tongue ;)

Here is another one from the exact same place as above (slightly different angle), but in winter 22 (and showing the highly recommended S35VN Tenacious LW. Don't read much here about this great knife).

i like details. the thumb wheel on the ikuchi and the texture of the peel ply g10/cf are very nice, and when you look closely, you get to appreciate the design on a whole new level.

Yes, and you honestly teach me something with this approach: Appreciating and enjoying details and more detailed views more.
Always like your pics in that flavor! And in a way they´re kind of the opposite of what I often instinctively do when I take knife pics: Lost of landscape / background, knife shown rather small and UN-detailled...

You HAD to do this, right? : :smirk ... tease me with you brown XHP Manix once more... ;)
i decided to carry it today because i was just hanging around the house and it was fresh on my mind from your comment the other day. so, thank you and you're welcome!
:winking-tongue

Ok then... here comes the "revenge" ;)

Decided to carry MY beloved Manix LW in the burnt orange REX 45 flavor today for an early morning run including a bit of workout in the callisthenics park... (but will switch it out now for the Stretch XL SE for the rest of the day)

I picked up a Tenacious LW a few weeks ago and have really been enjoying it for a work carry. The action isn’t as smooth as my Military, but it’s a great little knife.

I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

It is... but "little"?
Actually it has the cutting edge length of an Endura (by Spydercos specs a bit less - 86 vs 88 mm - but in my real life comparison it looks like the same, perhaps even more on the Tenacious due to the more of belly) and the handle space of a Manix (at least, I think even a bit more).

The linerlock is great anyway - knife can remain naturally in hand when operating the lock and when doing so with the thumb it still has the "built in linerlock safety feature" , despite having no choil: The thumb, in order to even being able to operate the lock, has automatically to be put in a position where it would get hit by the (hidden) ricasso, not the edge.

If you like the platform,I highly recommend the S35VN version I have! :smiling-cheeks

OK, folks, I'm not gonna tell you which knife I'm carrying today, you have to guess. Don't ask, because I'm not giving any hints.
