The turning on email notifications for the Manix Alert Thread has been how I got my two. I managed to get one of the handful of BHQ's first or second drop and have one on the way from whitemountain(thank you Buddafucco).

My usual method of waking up early and checking the usual suspects hasn't panned out for me with this sprint. Lots of mid morning/afternoon drops
How do you turn on email notifications? I don’t see such an option on mobile, and my device won’t show me desktop view.

EDIT:

Nvrmnd. I think I figured it out. Thanks.

Does anyone know if the number of 15V Manix released was disclosed?
I have asked a few times and never seen an answer. But there was language on the 15V letter than came with the Manix that there will be an other knives in that steel.
.

Could you or someone post the text of "language on the 15V letter" or a pic of the letter... I haven't been able to snag one yet but if other models (please be a Chief or Shaman) are getting the 15v treatment I can wait, I have a ton of Manix variety to choose from in my collection already. TIA!

Cheers,

John

I don't want to muck up the alert thread with chatter, but I don't like those combo deals those dealers are putting on there. Knowing people COULD be desperate and do whatever it takes to get the Manix, so they combine other stock that isn't selling well at a "better price" as a combo. Seems shady.

Dang it, I knew I left the attack squirrel in the mailbox
I had this happen to me earlier this year. No animals at my house. I wonder if postal workers just put that if they can’t or don’t want to deliver to that address that day for some reason.
In my case, the original expected delivery date was the 16th and it ended up being a little early, so my guess is the carrier had other packages that were expected that day that he/she didn't want to be late. I don't really care, it would just be nice if they didn't lie about it, but from what I know they catch a lot of flack from management if they claim they just don't have time to deliver something.

As far as the way these are all dropped a trickle at a time, I think one thing people don't realize is that it would likely make the scalping issue worse if vendors were able to buy and sell a large amount of stock at once. At least when there's only a handful available, the scalpers have to compete with earnest buyers, and can't just scoop up the majority of the inventory. Plus, once there is a more sizable inventory, if more earnest buyers have been able to get them, it leaves less of a market for the scalpers to take advantage of.

That bundling crap is pretty low though. I mean, a free market is a free market so... Hope people speak with their wallet and don't give the vendor pulling that stunt their money.

I don't even think the price is better, is it? I like Indiana Knives, but the strong arm move isn't very nice. If they were discounted it might be a different story.

Wow, that's even worse if that's the case. I don't follow the Uptern or Siren, so I wasn't sure what they are normally priced at but ASSUMED it was some kind of deal. YIKES! It stinks knowing some people got sucked right into that too.

Post by Indiana Knives »

Hey everyone, Eric here with Indiana Knives. I really didn’t know how the bundling thing would be received as I have never tried it before. I tried to be as transparent as possible with the description being that both knives were combined MAP pricing as dealers are not typically allowed to sell below that price/give discounts. During the recent MAP holiday Spyderco held, I tried selling a few of these models at a price where I was taking a $20 loss on each sale and still didn’t get down to the inventory level I wanted on a couple models. I have limited resources as a small shop so I was just trying to free up some extra inventory as tax time is right around the corner for me. 80% of what I received will be sold individually at MAP price on Sunday afternoon and will be limited to 1 per customer in an effort to get them into collectors hands and off of eBay for the crazy prices scalpers are selling them at. I apologize if this rubbed anyone the wrong way, I do not plan on this being a regular thing by any means. I’m pretty much always available for questions/comments/concerns via text/email/phone etc. if you ever want to get ahold of me. Sincerely, Eric

That’s very interesting!

Am I reading too far into that letter? - “Spydercos CPM 15V family of Sprint Run knives is a landmark achievement in production knifemaking. No matter which model you choose, we are confident that it will serve you well and remain a highly collectible piece of Spyderco history.”

To me that seems to insinuate that there will be more models in CPM 15V than just the Manix 2 and BBB collab!

I’ll take a 15V Lil Native please and thank you!

Seconded on the Lil Native, though I'd like to have a 15v Lil Native wharncliffe someday. :) The little box opener which I may never have to sharpen.

Yeah, seems to be strongly implied that there will be more… That makes sense to me, if they’ve invested in a particular fine tuning of a particular heat treat.

Are Wharncliffe profiles good for box opening? I quite like points, but I guess Wharncliffes do have a point/corner…

I was kinda surprised to see the strength of reaction here… Although maybe I shouldn’t be… Is it worse than places charging higher than MAP?

Ah, just one combo left. Happens to be the one I’d find least attractive…

I didnt check all three combos but I'm pretty sure the siren combo had a Mark UP, somewhere near $10, compared to what most places are selling each knife at. But u have a choice and he's also giving out the "hint" that he'll be releasing most of them as individual 15v's on Sunday. He didn't give a time, but neither does anyone else. ✌⚔🤞

Definitely better for utility cutting. Probably a smidge worse at cutting up apples.

It would just be stupid cool if 15V became the K390 for the US factory and it just rolled through the native, para, and Manix families.

I’ve had this exact same thought. People love Seki City K390 specifically because of the bomb HT. It would be great to have a banger of a steel that surpasses Seki K390’s balance of properties in regular production at golden.

BBS has or had, the K390 Para 3 and PM2. Ranger green scales I believe? The price isn't the best, but man I bet those are nice.

I think folks prefer the Seki K390 because it is heat treated 2-3 HRC harder than the golden stuff. Folks like the golden K390, they are nuts for the Seki heat treated stuff specifically I think.
