there are browser extensions and scripts you can use to copy and paste all your info in one click to streamline the ordering process.

Good luck to everyone trying to get one. Excited to see everyones feedback on these in the sharpening journal!
How can I run this script? I imagine you can’t do it on a cell phone…

The first batches that get sold seem to be a batch of 5 knives per dealer. Literally: Spyderco sends just 5 of these knives to dealers. It is in and out of stock as soon as it is posted up.

I'm hoping that the frenzy calms down once good quantity shows up, but I am not counting on that to happen for this knife.

Best bet is to subscribe to the Alert thread that is going for the knife. Do not post in it just let it be a place for links to knives. At that point it is be quick and a little lucky...

That’s exactly what I did. Just spent 6hrs diving into how to use the forum more efficiently and guess what……was looking at bhq an hour before 6:37 when it was back on their website. DANG

Depends on the browser I think. I use Chrome and it doesn't have extensions on the mobile app. Not sure about Firefox. Either way you'd find such a thing on tbe extension/add-on web stores if you search auto fill.

I would also recommend setting up PayPal with your card information since a lot of vendors accept that and it significantly speeds up check out as well.

I just ordered one from Sooner State Knives thanks to @TomAiello. Hope it arrives soon, they didn't supply a shipping estimate or tracking number.

I have an android phone that runs on google chrome. I'm not very good with the tech stuff but 🤞 so far I've gotten every drop that I really tried getting. When your browser is open, hit the 3 verticle dots on the top right hand corner. Go down to settings. There u will have auto fill addresses, payment methods etc. Just passing on some tips that were passed to me. I'm sure most people here got this but I know some dont. Good luck. I already snagged 1 so I'm out. Just watching and practicing my auto fill skills. Gotta stay in shape for the next one.✌

Some casual reading for those of us still waiting on a chance at this mystical stuff: https://knifesteelnerds.com/2021/05/24/ ... n-you-add/
Because desolate places allow us to breathe. And most people don't even know they're out of breath.

Mine arrived this morning. Haven’t had a chance to do more than carve a little cardboard, but I love it so far. Also it’s my first Manix and the ergos are amazing.

Has anyone tried sharpening theirs yet?

I am curious to see how it compares to K390 and Maxamet, and of course how low you can bring the edge angle to while not making it fragile.

So I have been gleaning a few things from the 39 pages here... Hoping Deadboxhero can correct me if I'm wrong about anything.

You said you got 65 HRC and 16.5 DPS from the factory knife right? So plugging that into Larrin's TCC formula...

TCC (mm) = -157 + 15.8*Hardness (Rc) – 17.8*EdgeAngle(°) + 11.2*CrC(%) + 14.6*CrVC(%) + 26.2*MC(%) + 9.5*M6C(%) + 20.9*MN(%) + 19.4*CrN(%)

15V:
(((-157) + (15.8*65)) - (17.8*33)) + (11.2*0) + (14.6*0) + (26.2*23) + (9.5*0)+(20.90) + (19.4 * 0) =

906 TCC

That puts it a little ahead of the 15V Larrin tested at 63 HRC and 30 degrees inclusive, and if the edge was brought down to 30 degrees would put it at 960 TCC, so right around Z-Max.

Meanwhile here's that factory edge cutting African Black Wood with no problem: https://youtu.be/fakP3h8FbHE

And then there's this edge stability testing: https://youtu.be/Vb5YRfe1Ndc

Anyone know the BTE thickness of it? I'm guessing it's probably a bit thicker than .010" as shown in the video.

Even if someone wants to buy themselves a lot of insurance at 20 DPS, it should still get around 781 TCC. Which still outperforms S90V, S110V, K390 and 10V at 15 DPS!

On the other side of that, if someone wants to be adventurous and try 14 dps the TCC would be at 995, which is just a little shy of Maxamet. And if anyone is crazy enough to try 10 dps, it would be right up there with Rex 121.

https://i2.wp.com/knifesteelnerds.com/w ... =759&ssl=1

My question is... Given the tests with the cans and the likely BTE thickness of the Manix2, will it be able to perform similarly at something as low as 10-12 DPS if the BTE thickness remains close to .010"?

I've been working it over on my Galley-V which is fixed at 10 degrees. Started with the CBN rods from the Gauntlet and once I had the shoulder refined I moved to the white rods. Mine came with a bit of an asymmetrical grind but it's evened up now.

I kissed the edge lightly at 20 degrees on the Gauntlet when done and it's good but still not as sharp as I've been able to get my S90V PM 2. I intend to use it for a while now and see how it holds up. Love the blade finish on this one and I look forward to refining the edge further.

Hey guys, out of a sense of fair play, I decided I should share the stock-checking script I've got running...

I'm sure people have become aware, the vendors really don't send out email notifications quick enough when they have knives back in stock. I have a background in programming and was going to create a script that would monitor the actual page itself, when I realized someone had probably already made one for video cards since it was neigh impossible to get one of those a few years ago thanks to the crypto madness. Sure enough, a very nice developer had done just that and made his script available:

https://jaydlawrence.dev/check-if-items ... -for-free/
https://github.com/jaydlawrence/stock-checker

The process of compiling the sites.json file is a little tedious, so I'll share the one I've already put together. However, if you need to add a site to it, you'll want to check out the instructions on his blog on how to inspect the HTML source and find the XPath you'll need to monitor. His instructions make it pretty clear, but it's just a PITA; it took me a couple of hours to put this one together. More bad news is it won't work for KnifeCenter, which accurately senses it is a bot.

A big reason I felt like I should share it is that I'm getting notifications for vendors with stock that I'm not seeing in the alerts thread, an my account is still subject to moderation so I can't let you all know--not to mention I've got to sleep sometimes. So I figure if there's more people with the script, more people can update the alert thread, and more people win.

I would also say that the "Pushover" notification app is really much better than relying on email notifications if you use something like GMail. For me, my GMail notifications always are on a delay and I don't get a push notification for them on my phone until minutes after they've been delivered to my mailbox. With Pushover, it's instantly pushed to my phone, and best yet they provide you with an email that you can use. So I set my forum email to the Pushover address, and got instant notification from the Alert thread for a vendor I wasn't even watching.

Here's the JSON file of sites I put together, have to link it through Pastebin since the forum software abbreviates all the URLs
