I read this as Sheriff’s Office…

I clearly need more sleep and less coffee.
We use S.O. as jargon for the Sheriff.
Has lots of meanings… Superior Officer (That could be a significant other too lol)

Ah ok. No i mean significant other. If the sheriffs office starts to question you about your knives you're in trouble...

Lately I’ve been selling knives… 13 sold to the tune of around $1800. This is to help fund a very nice solo canoe. She is no longer asking about knives, but rather “why do you need 4 canoes?”. Going for 5 babe.

Sounds like N+1 with bikes.

Alternatively expressed as S-1, where S is separation by your partner.

Optimal # of hobby items.

I want to be Woodpuppy when I grow up and have five canoes . . . heck I would settle for one really nice one.

Rude. Moving right along..

Mine tends to get a little more crafty, and knows the way to my heart. She'll say "you'll just complain it's not a salt", and she's right most of the time. That being said I can't thank the Salt line enough for curbing me extra hard on my quest to apparently get every single knife, and I think we could all say a big thank you to our significant others for their continued patience :squinting-tongue

I told her there was a very special model coming out and it is going to be crazy trying to grab it. She offered to have dual computers going after it at the same time side by side. I thought that was sweet. Her way of wanting to be a part of it.

My wife has stopped asking that question years ago, but my daughters had started to ask it a while back. I've since passed on a knife to them every once in while, and their question hast started to change to: 'Can I have one too?' :)

Ooo, good point. Buying them off can work, too. I bought my SO a sage-colored G10 D'fly and she carries and uses it on occasion. She doesn't stare lovingly at it (as I do) but I think it helped to spread the wealth...

I did this too with some effect. My oldest once got a purple Izula as a stocking stuffer and latter a LT Wright Bushcrafter HC for camping. Just recently I gave my youngest a Fallkniven Scout R2. The oldest has graduated to thinking like her mother . . . "you need another knife?" I still have hope for my youngest.

I walked in the door at 8:00 am Friday and the first words out of her mouth was "did you buy 3 knives"?

I said I bought 2 discontinued knives and 1 was out of stock after I ordered it and they credited to the card.

Shes a good girl and never raises **** about what I buy, the question was did someone get our card number

Ha! There can be no secrets with my wife, she gets pinged the moment a charge hits our CC. If I want to surprise her I have to do it with cash from the mad money stash in the safe.

Never once questioned by my wife on a knife purchase. Maybe an eye roll or two, but she's a great gal. What I spend on knives for myself, I spend 2-3 fold on her and our kids.
I showed her the Ayoob sprints I bought and she was genuinely interested in the design philosophy. Not her style of knife, but she has adopted 2 Spyderco's of mine as her own.

My wife is pretty cool about it, she has even bought me a few. Anytime she thinks I'm crazy for having a couple dozen, I show her a picture of one of y'all's collection of a couple hundred and it gives her perspective.🤣

Knives are a relatively inexpensive hobby until you start collecting customs. It gets a lot worse when you have to explain away one of these...
Not too likely for me, and for more reasons than it's the wrong brand. I did buy a used Jeep a few years ago but I had been talking about it for a long time so she knew it was coming. And I'm not the usual Jeep enthusiast that buys every manner of gadget to bolt on here or there. I haven't owned a Ford in 12 years and my last one even though it was a V8 had a Yamaha-designed V8, with no carburetor or distributor.

But back to knives or even other hobby items, I don't buy a lot so I don't get asked the question. She probably has an urge to ask what I'm going to do with it but she's probably learned it doesn't do any good to ask about it. And I think for most of us who own more than 2 knives it is just as pointless to try to justify what we're going to do with it.

Was said Yamaha power plant matched with a sweet Borla exhaust and shoe-horned into a Taurus?
