Still hoping for a Manix 2 LW back lock

#1

Post by Doc Dan »

I am still hoping for a Manix 2 Light Weight back lock with the thinner stock of the current model. I really like the LW, but would prefer the Golden made back lock any day. I know we've discussed this off an on for years, but I'm still holding on to hope.

I fear that the back lock will never return in any shape or form to the Manix.
But i do support you’re cause. If they make your request reality then it would not be to hard for them to make my dream Manix again. :beaming-face

i'm not gonna lie... i like the m2lw as it is, especially now that they are screwed instead of pinned, but i'd probably buy a backlock m2lw with thinner blade stock.

the leafjumper may end up being the closest you'll get to what you're asking for though.

Is there room in the line up?

The Native 5 pretty much has this covered, doesn’t it?

Or am I missing something.

I have one of the linerless Manix 2 back locks, great knife, nice and beefy, not a Lightweight by any means, my personal favorite Manix, but I am not sure it does anything the Native 5 doesn’t already do, or the Manix 2 LW for that matter, certainly not if you were to base this back lock on the LW.

And that may be why we aren’t seeing any Manix 2 back locks lately.

So what you want is a Stretch or a Native...
The world is full of lockback knives but very few with BBL.

For many of us, me included, the N5 doesn't fit our hands, at all. It is too small and too uncomfortable. The handle on the M2LW is better and the blade is both longer and wider. It is a very different knife.

Indeed put a Manix next to a Native and you will see it is a tiny nephew compared to the Manix2.
There isnt much in the knifeworld that can beat any Manix design in the inhand comfort design corner.

I've bladeswapped a Native 5 blade in a Native Chief handle once, calling it a "Native Chive"
Since the blade length on the N5 is not so far from the Manix 2, it's the closest thing I've seen :')
