Jeez. I was cutting some double walled cardboard boxes the other day with my Native 5 and Manix 2 both in Maxamet and at times it almost felt like the knives would snap, but held up fine.

That looks like the strap was under tension and the blade was slipped under then twisted to get the edge in contact with the strap. I would guess the break happened while twisting the blade but good luck getting him to admit that. I just have a hard time believing the blade would break by cutting that strap properly.

I cut those kinds of straps, around crane rigging straps just like the one shown in the photo...there's absolutely no way they snapped that blade because of that. NO WAY! I've cut plenty of those in the past with a flimsy box cutter and never had any damage. That's someone looking for attention.

I definitely believe that is part of it, but there have to be smarter ways to get attention.

sorry. triple b is cutting through multiple thick zip ties with the 15v manix. it was posted on the same page as the broken s110v blade to show the durability of even a knife with high hardness used properly.

Thanks!

I’ve been following zip-tie-gate on here. Zip ties should be like butter if people use the sharp side…..

Had me at 15v!
Okay serious question...

What is the difference between this and the standard run Manix in Maxamet? I know one is FRN and one is G-10 but the steels are very close in performance right? Long edge retention with low toughness and low corrosion resistance?

I do have to say the price point rocks especially compared to something like the new cruware Strech xl at $285.
I have the lw Maxmet Manix and gave away my S30 G-10. Manix2 isn't my favorite model, Ive just wanted to try out 15V for some time, regardless of which model it's in. I was hoping for MuleTeam ..
Not going to lie, I am fairly tempted on this one as I like the Manix platform a lot. But I may hold out for the REC 10V version in either the Manix or Shaman, said they were making it just no idea when. Too many nice knives out there, its hard not to buy them all.

I chipped a large portion of the tip of s30, but I was trying to pry the reset button that was stuck in on a Nintendo 64… last time I misused a blade!

Just saw this Manix S110V knife break on Facebook. Few comments mention that S110V, Maxamet break the most and some predict 15V Manix will be worse.

Can knives break like this trying to cut plastic ties???? I would only think sideways pressure and abuse would do this.

The guy posted a video of himself cutting the same straps with another knife, and quite predictably he was using a twisting motion. Knives are only shaped to be strong in one direction, literally every time somebody snaps one in half it turns out there was lateral force involved.

So far S30V is the only steel that I have had chip on me with normal use.

This! I would bet big money that *most* people that snap Maxamet and S110V blades are not using them intelligently.

I just love how it's always the knife/steel's fault and never the user, whether it's a chipped edge or snapped blade. It's always bad heat treat instead of poor sharpening, it's always brittle steel instead of misuse.

I think all that we know for sure right now is : sooner than later. And since sprint runs tend to come slowly over a period of time, the best way to find one is to regularly check the dealer(s) you intend to buy it from
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

No dates have been set yet. It is unknown if we will get a heads up or they will just appear in stock. They should be released some time in 2022.

Probably the most efficient way for you to grab one is to set up accounts with the vendors that will allow you to put them in a wish list with notification of availability as either email or text. I've done that with multiple dealers, basically first one who gets me a notice is going to get my money.
