AWT linerless Manix Scales

#1

Post by Ranger_Ike »

Just saw that Applied Weapons Tech is making linerless aluminum Manix scales now. Anyone tried them? They look great! Some really good looking colors. They have some that are anodized and some cerakote.

Also it seems they have removed the lanyard tube and just milled a hole there. And added in a barrel spacer I the back.

Looks like they are lefty friendly as well.

Really interesting looking. Maybe I should pick up another manix to try these out….

I wanted to try them, and I am sure they are wonderful products. Based on some reviews, it seems to be slightly slicker than the stock G10 (I do have AWT scales for mini Grip btw)... so I went with RockScaleDesign Titanium Hexi skinny on my 1st conversion.

I love this setup... might still try out the AWTs when I get the BBB 15V Manix 2. :smlling-eyes

I’ve bought the AWT scales for a griptillian. I really liked them but they are definitely more smooth than the Rockscale titanium I currently have on my manix. I just have the plain RS ones though, not the milled. Those look great!

What I have tried from AWT have been great quality though. And the manix handle profile locks it in pretty good even without texture.

I’m interested to see how the rear spacer is. I’ve never had trouble, but a friend of mine had the lanyard tube area pop apart on his manix. I fixed it for him no problem, but until that point hadn’t realized there isn’t anything holding it together back there.

On the downside it’s definitely a little more busy towards the back of the knife.

Yes I agree that additional "tail" screw could be more reassuring if the knife is used hard or dropped, and will be glad to try one out next!

they need to put the swell back in the handle. i think these "skinny" designs look wrong and i wouldn't want completely different ergos on my favorite knife. they look great otherwise though.

You do have that option too!
I wanted to try out the skinny first since I can always go back to the LW when swell is required. :cheap-sunglasses

AWT could also offer different options in the future.

I like the looks of those! If they made them for the LW I just might buy them.

I took a look at their other offerings - seems like they added the "secondary choil" from the Manix to their Para 3 scales. Don't love that.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Yap, I think AWT should consider that option in the future too!

Haven’t tried those but my PM2 scales from them are great.

I would prefer it if AWT would introduced an original style , agree with LB . They do make nice scales , I have a set of their scales on a BM Mini Freek . MG2
