How about a US made 3.5" UKPK salt (USPK?) instead? That'd be approximately the same ergos.

I would have preferred my SE Rock Jumper to be in H1, and I’d certainly like to see new designs that are intended to be Salts. But, do I want existing designs to be Saltified? Not if they clog production of new designs, Salt or not.
i definitely get what you're saying. i don't want to see new development halted either. sometimes i wonder how many designs are being worked that we never see. i think sprints and exclusives put a bigger hold on production than adding a few salt models would though.
Getting agreement on which few should be produced may be harder than getting them produced. LOL.

As Sal admitted last year (I think it was), exclusives did get in the way of producing new designs (and sprints) for while.

When such stalls occur, I have taken to past catalogs for designs that are new to me. It sure takes my mind off thinking how current models ought to be. With patience, the secondary market need not break the bank.

Being well fixed for Salts, I can’t see myself happier with an SE H1 Rock Jumper than I am with my recently acquired LNIB JD Smith sprint from 2009.

G10 Manix 2. Although I'm not sure how the CBBL can be "salted."

I'd like to see more G10 Salt options in general.

Jim
Yeah that lock would do horribly in a salty environment with sand and crud getting in there. I guess they could throw a back lock on it.

someone posted they had no issues with their s110v manix in the ocean. i used to think i'd have problems with the comp lock in a salt also, but i've had none with the caribbean. and remember, you don't necessarily have to use a manix salt in the ocean to enjoy the low maintenance of salt steels.

Standard Stretch 2.
Yes. This. In Magnacut.

And of course, a PacSalt in Magnacut. With various color options.

I would rather see the Spyderhawk Salt be brought back before anything else.

Also, save the Aqua Salt.

I have repeatedly made requests for LC200N FFG salt versions (I am also interested in Magnacut) of:

Stretch 2 drop point
Native Chief
G10 Native 5

I would buy all of these models if they were available.

An LC Jester salt would be cool too.

A few people have mentioned the Chaparral and that would be my choice, but I would add, in titanium. I've tried several different knives since getting my Chap, but the titanium stealth chaparral keeps finding its way back to my pocket.

I get the whole idea that a salt knife is mainly used for outdoor pursuits around water, so it makes sense to go with bright colors like yellow or obnoxious green. But with Magnacut, we have a really great all around streel that happens to be almost as rustproof as H1 or LC200N. What about just adding another feature to a great gentleman's knife? Make it extremely rust resistant as well! And while I aplaud Spyderco in trying to introduce new steels in lightweight and cheaper FRN, I think it's time for an upscale salt. Bring on the Chaparral titanium salt!

I realize it is most certainly futile to consider a saltified discontinued model, but if it were possible, my #1 choice would be a salitified Mantra 2 in Magnacut with phosphor bronze washers. I suppose there is a remote possibility of a saltified Ikuchi but given that the front flipper is slippery when wet, that would be no bueno for a salty knife. I wouldn't be adverse to replacing the front flipper for a pocket pecker on the Ikuchi, tho.

Blanket, unimaginative answer: I wouldn't mind any knife given the Salt treatment. I guess I'm the opposite of yablanowitz. He is far more educated and experienced with Spydercos than I am, so there is that, but I really like Salts. I like their light weight, I like linerless/don't miss liners, I like low maintenence, and I like easy to sharpen steels.

I actually agree that a new "upscale" titanium salt is an interesting idea. Alternatively, the new Spyderco UpTern in a titanium salt configuration would work, I think, if there is concern about straying from the typical Chaparral theme.

Coincidentally, I can imagine the Mantra 2 and Ikuchi also filling that role. However, the latter Ikuchi would be especially nice, in my opinion.

Something I just thought of, but I hope we see more variations of the Spyderco ClipiTools.
I had the serrated Rescue type and loved it, but would have preferred different tools, personally. Some Salt versions would be excellent tools.
I think it'd be especially cool if the larger “Standard” and “Rescue” types could have two locking blades. Similar to the Dyads and one of the smaller Clipitools.
I really admire Spydercos knives with extra functions like the Tusk, Dyads, and ClipiTools.

dan mentioned a dyad too. that would be very sweet. i'd love a dyad salt with ti liner and ti scale/bolster with polished g10. looking through old models, i'd like something exactly like the byrd wings slipit, but as a spyderco with upgraded salt materials. that would be the ultimate modern traditional knife.

eta: here's a picture of the one i'm referencing. something like this with titanium and polished g10 would look sick.

Thanks for mentioning the Byrd!
I actually really like the Byrds, but I guess the Salt series is a Spyderco thing.

Anyway, no surprise I think it’s a good idea!

i have never seen the byrd wings slipit before my post. i did a search for dyad to see if there was anything close to what i was thinking about and the byrd showed up. honestly, i like the overall look of the handle and blade shapes of that model more than any of the dyads i saw, which is why i used that as my reference. looks like a really great knife.
