handicapped suggestions
Ok fellow Spydies, I sustained an injury to my right right elbow-smashed, fractured 4 operations and counting. This happened , well the third anniversary in coming up in few weeks. I have limited use of my right arm and hand, and had to switch to being a leftie when possible.
Any recommendations for a good folder?
Got into knife collecting after my injury. When jackals seel a handicapped person coming in the city, or whereever, they are on you like never before. I want to be safe as well as handle safely.
Any recommendations?

I would say a Civilian. Only because it is a lockback(ambidexterous) and requires(and was designed for) minimal training. Also the SPOT might be an option. Neck carry so ambi as well and a great little utility blade....oops you said folder.....Civilian or an of the Spyderco lockbacks would be good. An Endura would be good and not as costly as the Civi. Hope this helps, Take Care!!!!

As CKE suggested any Spyderco with an ambidexterous pocket clip and lockback of some size would be a good choice. I would caution you to check local/state laws on carrying limitations. The Civilian would certainly serve very well as it would be vicious with little training and very intimidaing to look at, but the police would think so as well.
Whatever you choose, practice getting it in and out of your pocket. You will loose some manual dexterity when confronted and adrenalin dumps.
Please excuse any misspelling.

The Yojimbo is a good one, IMHO, and the Civilian, hopefully legal in your area, is a favorite of mine that has been made in lefty models. The Native seems to be an ambidextrous favorite of many, although it is a little small for me, and I gave mine to a friend. I like my EDC, the Gunting, for ambi usage, although I normally carry them on my right side, in a belt sheath. My lefty favorite is a karambit, although I do not yet own a Spyderco version yet, I will order one in the coming months. I use karambits almost exclusively in reverse grip, edge forward.
S30V Native,It is very easy to use with either hand.A true right or left hander.

The Chinook II is a left/right/tip-up/tip-down knife. Lock back, but it is hefty. It carries well for 6 oz. folder, and it's 3 3/4 blade is legal in alot of places. Just an idea. There is always the Maddox.
Hope you heal fast!!

I don't want to whine or anything, but I really recommend getting, depending on the type of folder you choose, a delica or endura trainer. With the civilian you'll at least need deployment trainer, it's use when open is pretty instinctive. For a more affordable alternative to the civie I can recommend the Spyderhawk, it has a larger opening hole which facilitates opening under stress and you can get the endura trainer which has a similar design. THe Matriarch is also a good option ofcourse, but I believe it has a smaller diameter opening hole.
Good luck

My suggestion may seem a bit peculiar, but I'd advice you to try the Maddox. It's not a folder, indeed, but it is made by Spyderco <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> and it is especially designed for people with certain disabilities. It can be carried comfortably in its sheath and deployed even easier than a regular folder. Not to mention that if you'll get to use it for SD purposes, the judge will consider it more like a circumstantial tool rather than a weapon.
