I am not a necrothreader but I think this one deserves a bump. I only wish that Spyderco releases more knives in low carbon steels like AEB-L or 14C28N.

I would like to see that, as well. Many may try to poo poo on them because Kershaw uses the steel, but they are actually very good. They are tougher than anything else out there, even carbon steels, in my experience. I have several knives in these steels and really like them. The edge retention of 14C28N seems to be that it takes a very fine edge and holds it for a respectable amount of time, but once it is gone, it really needs sharpening. Sharpening is not difficult with these steels, either. They are as tough or tougher than 52100 and other such steels. They will take the licking and keep on ticking, as the commercial used to say.

Only ignorants would poo on AEB-L because it has a low amount of carbon or because its offspring 14C28N is used by another company. I had(and was stupid enough to loose it) a Kershaw Leek in 13C26 and man did I love that blade. It took a stuuuuupid sharp edge in no time and the apex was quite stable. I would kill for a Millie in AEB-L !

An AEB-L Military Model or Manix2 would get my money.

An AEB-L SE UKPK would be awesome, and I sure some would love it in PE as well!

Great choice of steel to use burgundy scales with IMO.

I'd go for a series of the Scandinavian designs in AEB-L - Nilakka, Lil' Nilakka, WolfSpyder if Ray Mears is willing, Puuko fixed blade.

Edited to add:

I'll second the request for a UKPK in AEB-L. A micarta handled UKPK would be great, something like black canvas micarta?

I like this idea. Maybe something like this could happen after a successful Mule. All of those seem like really neat knives and relatively fitting for the steel.
There are other knives that would be interesting in this steel too, depending on price point and so on, of course.

Meh, why not skip straight to a Military? AEB-L is a proven blade steel, and the Military has been begging for a sprint with a new steel. AEB-L is a perfect fit for a Military given it's proven abilities in both outdoor fixed blades and kitchen knives. I have a custom set of LT Wright Kitchen Knives in AEB-L and they are wonderful.

As someone who tried the AEB-L "Mule" aka the AEB-L Urban Sprint, I'd say it proved itself worthy to skip the Mule phase and go straight to another Sprint run.

It was very stainless and easily took a keen edge. It lacks in edge retention but it gains in ease of sharpening.

It's not my favorite steel, but different enough to be worth people checking out.

Thanx for your input and suggestions for models with AEB-L.

First of all, AEB-L is not that easy to find in the thicknesses for folders or fixed blade sport knives. Secondly, I'd like to test the Mule Team myself and I would like for you to also test it and give me feedback. A few of you swear by the material, but the chemistry in't that great so we hope it will punch above its weight. Making a run with the material is a significant investment and I'd like more experience before making it.

Once we've got a Mule Team out there being tested by you with feedback, if it's going to be a "go", then I'll need input on "a" model to make.
