"We need an Apex Ultra Mule because… I am a Mule addict who loves to play with knives and sharpen knives and talk about steels to other steel nerds."
I don't have a problem, I can quit at any time.

I'll hold out for a kitchen knife in this with a better blade profile for food prep.
But the steel does have my attention.

Re: Apex Ultra Mule
If it’s a mule I’m buying it….simple as that.
My thing, putting handles on them.
Funny as I make knives for other people but make Mules for myself….

Im a vegetarian as technically cows are made of grass and water.

since I have started the Mule game, the more the better. :)
Re: Apex Ultra Mule
You are right on target !
I'm starting to enjoy making full knives more and more, but if I think to what would provide me the more fun to make, it's definitely making a handle for a Mule !
I thought a bit about it and I believe the shape of the tang is what makes the handle making so cool, we are free to create a lot of shapes in these scales.
In the collection : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

Re: Apex Ultra Mule
Well... why not. We still have two unknown mules. MT34 is Rex T15 (to be released), MT35 is MagnaCut and MT38 is M398 (to be released). We still don't know anything about MT36 and MT37. My bet is going for Elastic ceramic and Apex Ultra.
Re: Apex Ultra Mule
As much as I want to profess my adoration of Knifesteelnerds and knife steel testing/discussion in general, I can’t deny that the name reminds me of the catchphrase to a superhero.
I was sketching stuff while watching something the other day and I noticed one of my knife designs matched this superhero really well and then thought to myself “well the most fitting steel for this would obviously be Apex Ultra”.
As sarcastic as I am or this sounds, it’s a true story!
Aside from the name, I think it’s an interesting non-stainless steel that will probably prove to be a great performer and solid option among blade smiths and hopefully production companies’ fixed blades and even folders too. I’m excited to learn more about it!
Like 52100, I think steels like this are a bit underrated.

rex121 is the king of steel, but nature’s teeth have been cutting for hundreds of millions of years and counting
