DLT Shipping to Canada.

#1

Post by Foehammer »

I was wondering if any fellow Canadians have had any trouble with getting knives from DLT across the border. Would appreciate any input before I pull the trigger. Thanks

Only issue we've ever had in my 5 years here is 1 Hinderer and 4 Demko Ad 20.5s, no issues yet with a Spyderco other than a smock that got extra scrutiny.

DLT is one of the absolute best dealers out there. That being said I would be cautious about shipping to Canada. I did a giveaway here and shipped a Pacific Salt 2 to Canada and it got confiscated at the border.

I've bought from them 3 times and haven't had anything seized yet, but they were all Spydercos. I did also purchase a Protech Malibu from them once but had a shipping forwarder do it cause I was pretty sure a buttons lock flipper would look like an "automatic" to a customs agent.

Really has to do with how the customs agent is feeling that day than anything to do with DLT. Anecdotally I've read and also experienced things get seized more on the West (Vancouver) coast more than the east (Missisauga and Montreal).

Didn't have any issue with a couple lockback Spydies and a Buck 110 special edition, but those are all less "gravity" friendly than many options. It is a risk.

One of the few US dealer that still ship to Canada...Thumbs Up.I have only placed two orders so far, outstanding service. Both were nicely packaged and promptly shipped. My last order was the DLT exclusive Cold Steel 4-Max Scout which arrived safely in Canada unopened.

If they decide to do another run of Sprint Manix2s I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger.
