Sal, the most iconic Spyderco folder deserves a sprint !
Old school SS SE Police - C07S. This is the knife that caught me into the spydervortex. What about a sprint in SPY27 steel and a blueish tuffram handle ?! It might as well be an anniversary spydie being the oldest in production.Just a small sprint …. Please !!!

I support everyone for a sprint of something they love.elena86 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 1:40 amOld school SS SE Police - C07. This is the knife that caught me into the spydervortex. Now the spy steel will not be the problem i think but for the other color and material handle they will probably use the police 4 and not make a new handle for the older ss version since it will be allot easier for them i think.
Either way i hope you get wat you want.
Re: Sal, the most iconic Spyderco folder deserves a sprint !
Unfortunately I think we few who actually still like steel handles are just that...very few in number. I'll even say in most cases I don't like metal handles but the standard Police is such an icon that I can't imagine it any other way. I would definitely be interested in blade steel variants but this one seems ultra unlikely.
What's funny to me is the popularity of titanium handles vs any other "metal handles". It's not so much a performance issue because in your hand they're pretty much the same apart from weight, so it really just comes down to the cool factor of titanium vs boring old stainless steel or aluminum.

Just wait, 1980s trends will be back! Spyderco should push this as a retro knife

Why not an anniversary model for 2024 in SS ? MG2

Mi Marius,
Interesting idea. I'll watch the thread.
Actually, we have retooled the original Police model as it will be going to screw construction. So a Tuffram coated aluminum serrated Police with SPY27 blade might be an interesting Sprint. Though we'd probably make both plain and serrated versions.

I’d be in on one of each. Ive got a few SS Enduras from the nineties but have never owned a Police Model.
Re: Sal, the most iconic Spyderco folder deserves a sprint !
Thank you Sir ! When I first saw a SS SE C07 Police 20 years ago I fell in love with what I call “the Spyderco concept”. I will probably buy three or four in spyderedge and one in plain edge myself. Many LEOs and old afis will buy it too so I bet you’ll have no problem selling the sprint in no time. This would make my Spyderco dream become reality.sal wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 10:18 amMi Marius,

Well, you know I'm in. Is the G-10/Saber grind still in-the-works, or has it been shelved?
Re: Sal, the most iconic Spyderco folder deserves a sprint !
Oh my, Sal’s mention of interesting Police sprints has my attention. I’m very interested in the aluminum handle idea. And yes to Spy27 in this model.

Both plain and SE? That sounds excellent!

Hi Basko,
Welcome to our forum.
Hey Jack.
It was parked due to the new tooling of the Police. Also the P4 got my attention and I moved on it. Not sure at what stage of development it's in now?
I printed out my current design project list last night; I have 41 design projects of my own in-the-works. I think one of my "flaws" is that I try to do too many things, much to the detriment of my wife and family. I'm working on trying to fix that.

Re: Sal, the most iconic Spyderco folder deserves a sprint !
I never did understand why people would take titanium but had no interest in aluminum. I want to see more aluminum handled knives because it is cheap, rigid feeling in hand, and can simplify construction because there is no need for liners. Quite possibly my favorite rendition of the PM 2 was the aluminum handled BD1-N version. I wish that was a production model. I think a aluminum handled version of the Police makes a lot of sense to maintain the aesthetic while lightening it up.Evil D wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 3:25 amWhat's funny to me is the popularity of titanium handles vs any other "metal handles". Re: Sal, the most iconic Spyderco folder deserves a sprint !
Aluminum does lighten it up considerably, but it scratches and dings more easily as well. The Tufram coating makes it more scratch resistent without adding noticeable weight, but does add some expense. I personally think it's a good compromise between aluminum and titanium.
Re: Sal, the most iconic Spyderco folder deserves a sprint !
I have one of the BHQ PM2s with aluminum handles. I love everything about it save for the very rough texture. Otherwise, very it's a very cool knife. I too would like to see more as well.
