302UF swirled pattern

#1

Post by Roy C. Deps »

Hello,

after bying the 302M and the 302F, I could not resist the 302UF. I had to wait several month until the stone arrived (I have no clue what happened).
The description flyer says that a "swirled" pattern is normal. As the package and the box are a little bit tattered (due to shipping, I guess) I ask myself if this pattern shown in the images below is normal. I did not have a good "low light" so it might not be visible clearly.

Thanks.

I believe those are marks from when the stone was cut. Mine had them too.

Hi Roy,

Welcome to our forum.

The ceramic bench stones are not "cut". They are cast in a mold and fired. The fine grit finish is as fired. The medium grit finish is as fired. The Ultra fine finish is the result of surface grinding the finish of a fine grit stone with a diamond surface grinder. The "swirls" are the marks left by the surface grinder.

Thank you for your replies.
Ok, good to know that this is a normal surface pattern.
Looking forward to use the UF. I am very curious how sharp and polished the edges will be.
Thanks.
