I cannot say I’m a fan of that.

I can't even believe it. I had to Google it to see if it was a counterfeit.

Lol! I’m a little surprised by the type of reaction this got. But, then again, I’m not big into serrations myself so I don’t really know what to look for. I guess that explains why crk is not currently producing any serrated folders.

I don’t know if serrations were a regular feature of CRK knives, or if they were just put on certain special versions or releases. I’ve seen CRK serrations in a knife magazine many years ago. IIRC, I think they were designed so they could be resharpened like a regular plain edge. I’ve never handled a partly-serrated CRK, so I can’t say if they’re good or bad. But CRK’s serration pattern, based on how they look, does NOT look even close to a SE Spyderco’s serrations.

I'm sure they work, but man - they sure don't look like they work like Spyderco serrations.

Oddly enough, I was looking up CRKT's Veff Serrations, and they happen to have produced a new (to me) style called Veff Flat Top serrations. To my eye, these look a lot CRK's old serrations.

CRKT says the chief benefit to the Flat Top serration is that it's easier to sharpen (and manufacture) than traditional pointy serrations. Perhaps that had something to do with CRK's design choices?

Not sure why they can't just recommend a sharpmaker.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Don't know if they still do, but CRK used to recommend the Sharpmaker for all of their knives.

They still recommend the SM on their website.

Yes, CRK has always recommended the SM.

Maybe Chris Reeve had simply wanted his own unique serration pattern, and the ability to resharpen it like a plain edge was a selling point.

If we spent as much time trying as we do doubting, we might have already accomplished it.

Looks kinda weird. Given that we're only looking at one side of the blade, is it possible that the 3 serrations where the grind in not visible are ground on the other side?

That's what it looks like to me. Scallops cut alternately on both sides and V-grind edge. Not something I would go for, myself.
