This is truly one of the best looking opening days in the NFL that I can remember in modern times. I look for the Chiefs-Cardinals game to be a real battle. The Bills & Rams will be most interesting as well. I'm most interested to see how the Las Vegas Raiders will do in the first two games. They sure spent a ton of $$$$.

Every year is the Cowboys year til it aint!! 🤠 lol
You all need to bring Roger Staubach out of retirement :smiling-heart-eyes that was one cool dude on the gridiron.

Those were the glory days for the Cowboys. I sure miss Tom Landry too.

I"m afraid that it's DO or DIE this year for Coach McCarthy>> I also think Dak is on the hot plate as well. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. I would not want to be a Dallas Cowboy this year especially.

Nick, when do you want to do Super Bowl Predictions? At the end of the Pre Season?
I think I have my two Super Bowl teams picked and the winner! 🏆

Personally I'll have a better idea around week #10. It's way too early and so many things can happen in these first 4 weeks especially. You might be able to throw a dart and get lucky but I want to know more about where these teams are after week #10. Like for instance who would have picked the Bengals to even get to the Superbowl. I wouldn't have and very few others did.

But I will predict that the Cowboys won't even make the playoffs. And I hope I'm wrong on that one because I always like McCarthy as a coach. But there is so much mutiny among the ranks in Dallas and Jerry Jones just can't quit meddling. I'm picking the Eagles to win that division. That I'm pretty sure of.

Now I do think that one of the teams in the AFC West will make it to the big dance and that's about as far I want to go at this time. Because that division truly has a stacked deck.

I feel like the worst fan ever, knowing I get both the Giants and Bills games...I'm going to be primarily watching the Bills. Is that bad?

I’m open to doing them anytime. Right now doesn’t feel unreasonably early for some predictions but I think it might be a bit easier once we see some final 53 man rosters.

AFC West is probably the best division in football right now. That’s six tough games for each team in the regular season. Depending on how far they make it, those teams will be going through the gauntlet all the way through the regular and post season.

Being in upstate NY, I’m surprised you’re not more a Bills fan to begin with. You’re lucky that you get games on TV for both teams each week. I wouldn’t blame you for watching the Bills when you have the chance, they’re easily a top 5 team this year.

I’m curious, do you also get Jets games every week?

Lawrence Taylor, that's all I've got to say!! I know it sounds so cliche to say him. But as a 5 year old, I remember watching him play while hanging around my dad and uncle. Then the Bills/Giants Super Bowl when I was 6 or 7, I remember my dad cheering for the Bills (this is back when we lived in Saratoga Springs) after we seemed like Giants fans and I was shocked and it solidified my Giants fandom. I had to be the odd ball, villain even as a kid haha!

We don't get Jets every week (thank god) but they sub in for certain Giants or Bills games sometimes. Must be contract/regional things.

Also pretty lucky, at least this season that we get Yankees and Mets games too!

OK simply for fun~~~ I like to put some substance in any predictions I might make. But what the heck. I predict either the Chiefs or Raiders will win the AFC West. I've heard all the hype on the Chargers and I'm not buying it. And adding Russell Wilson to the Broncos is like putting high dollar lipstick on a barnyard pig. They still don't have a defense and their draft picks don't look all that good either.
I think the Raiders could be a surprise with their new additions. And maybe the new coach (McDaniel) might give the team a shot in the arm. I think he learned a lot since his failure with the Broncos. I still would rather have Jon Gruden back.

IN the NFC I think I'll pick the 49ers or Packers to return to the Superbowl. In the AFC might be the Chiefs, Bills or the Titans. That's about as narrow as I can get without more raw data. But you did say it's just for fun. But it might end up being funny..

OH!!! By the way!!! I do have another prediction to make and I think there is a big chance this one could come to fruition.

I predict that by game #7 of this season that Tyreek Hill is going to very much wish he stayed with Sir Patrick and the Chiefs. If he thinks that he wasn't getting enough balls thrown at him when he was with the Chiefs he's about to get a bitter taste of reality with a QB that doesn't have even half of the talent that Sir Patrick has. Yes indeed Tyreek is going to be whining like a candy deprived 4 year old before the 2022 season concludes and perhaps before game #8.

And I predict that the Chiefs really won't miss Tyreek all that bad. It's just going to be different that's all. The Chiefs nailed in the draft with Karlaftis, Chenal and Pacheco. Yeah they finally got some defensive gems. This might be the best set of draft picks since they drafted Neil Smith & Derrick Thomas>> and that's been a while.

I know that most of you here who frequent this thread are Chief Haters. But please try to put that aside for a moment. A good friend just called me to let me know that Lenny Dawson just passed away at age 87.

He was the Chief's QB when they won Superbowl 4 in January 1970. He was the Chief's QB for many years until Mike Livingston finally beat him out late in his career with the Tribe.

Lenny Dawson was truly an ICON of the town of Kansas City. He was a brilliant Sports Broadcaster for many years here in KC. He was a great host on HBO's "Inside The NFL". He truly earned his spot in the NFL Hall of Fame.

I've lived in the Kansas City area most of my life and I've never heard anyone say one negative thing about "Lenny "The Cool" Dawson". My most sincere condelences for his family and friends. I'm sure the KC Chiefs will have a tribute to him and probably in tomorrow night's pre-season game against the Packers.

There are only 2 QBs that KC has had that I thought that measured up to Lenny Dawson and they are Joe Montana and Sir Patrick "The Great One" Mahomes. And both of those guys loved Lenny. It can be said that Lenny Dawson and the late-Great Hank Stram were the Godfathers of the KC Chiefs. GOD rest your soul Lenny :cheap-sunglasses

JD, I had meant to express my condolences on the passing of Lynn Dawson. He was a tremendous Q.B. An Icon of the N.F.L.
Although, I was never able to watch him play during his career, I absolutely enjoyed him on Inside the N.F.L., at first with Nick Bonoconti and later with Chris Collinsworth. That was a great threesome right there. I must've started watching Inside the N.F.L. around 1982 maybe?
At any rate, Lynn was always the Anchor of the show. And, imo, the show was never better than with those 3. Of course, Nick Bonoconti (please excuse the spelling) is a real story himself.
But, I found a really neat photo of Lynn Dawson during his playing days, I believe this was from Super Bowl I - it's a clear sign of the times back then. Such a cool pic.
At any rate, I hate that we lost Lynn Dawson

Yeah MAC they showed that same picture on two local TV Stations today while I was surfing the channels trying to find out more info on his demise. But the poor guy had been suffering for some time and I'm sure he's in good hands now.

However most of the radio stations are not grieving his passing but yet they are literally celebrating his life>> and it was a good one for the most part. He was a true Icon of Kansas City and he was my favorite local sportscaster of all time. He was truly artistically good at it. And he knew the game of football.

I saw a video of him and Sir Patrick (Mahomes) together today. He told Patrick that he was passing the wand to him to bring KC back to their glory days>> and I would say he's at least off to a good start. He needs to make amends for his inexcusable loss of Superbowl 55>> but I Think he's well on his way.

And I heard that him and Sir Patrick became friends almost immediately when he first took over as QB in 2018. Like I said earlier Len Dawson didn't step down from being with the Chief's broadcasting booth until he was 82>> and the fans did not want him to retire. Yeah he was that popular here. Kansas City has always supported a Winner and they also support those who try very hard. And Len Dawson covered all bases in that regard. I'm personally gonna miss him. A great human being was Len Dawson and he wasn't a bad QB either.

OK I guess it's time to do a little speculating. Not going to try to nail a Superbowl champ but I do have some predictions for some of these teams that have bolstered their rosters>> especially in the AFC West. I'm particularly afraid of the opponents the Chiefs are going to have to take on in the AFC-WEST this coming season. All four teams in the division have bolstered their rosters to where it's gonna be really tough to predict who will win that division.

But right now at this time I actually fear the Raiders more than I do anyone else in the AFC West. With Derek Carr improving and now being matched up with Davante Adams is going to make them a huge scoring threat. Their defense sure improved last year and now they have added Adams to their scoring machine it's going to make them tough to beat down the stretch I'm afraid. I'm just not sold on the Chargers or the Broncos yet. There's a reason that Seattle dumped Russell Wilson. Somethings wrong with that trade. It just looks too good to be true. And the Chargers always seem to fold when the pressure increases. I do think it will be the Chiefs or Raiders in that division.

But I could be eating some over-cooked Crow come January. Because I'm sure not a clairvoyant.

Eagles in the NFC East I think is almost a sure bet.

49ers will dominate the NFC West. I don't think any other team in the division can prevent that.

I'm gonna have to do some studying on the other divisions. But those I'm pretty sure of.
