2022 P.I.T.S Sprint!
Re: 2022 P.I.T.S Sprint!
Built like a tank, yet light and compact. The P.I.T.S. feels like a "forever knife". The design will stand the test of time and there is not much that can go wrong.

The reason I ask is because mine doesn’t open with a single fluid motion. It’s pretty easy to start to open it and when you get it about a half inch or so open (see pic) it hits a wall. When you apply more pressure it overcomes that and then hits another wall when it’s not quite half way open. (Second pic)
The rest of the way it is consistent and smooth.
Just wondering if this is normal, or something that will smooth out.
First “wall”
Second (not as abrupt) “wall”
I only have the first "wall" after I disassembled, cleaned and (fluorinated CRK) greased the pivot area. The first "wall" won't go away, it is the shape of the tang.
Thanks. I’m going to continue carrying mine for a while and then do a take apart and clean. It has already gotten a lot smoother and the second wall is gone completely. The first wall is not as abrupt.
This knife may be absolutely perfect. I can’t put it down.

Re: 2022 P.I.T.S Sprint!
Agree completely!
What drew me in was the blade shape. It reminded me of the Slysz Bowie that I will probably never have. Having it now, I like it even more than I thought I would.
One thing I didn’t expect was the size of the blade/cutting edge. Looking at the specs I guess I expected it to be the same size as the para 3. This was a little bit of a bummer, cause I always felt like the para 3 was just a tad short. But in reality the blade feels quite a bit bigger. And after comparing them side by side, there’s a pretty good size difference.
It feels just the right length.
Also something I didn’t notice at first, the handle shape reminds me of a smaller version of the carribean.
And carrying it is another shock. It somehow feels smaller in pocket than a delica to me. It is a little thinner than the delica, but weighs a little more. But it really doesn’t have much bigger of a profile.
Vs delica:
Not trying to get into a this versus that debate. Just showing size comparison for reference. I didn’t expect it to be as pocket friendly as it is. I did bend the pocket clip in a bit to get a bit more tension.
Re: 2022 P.I.T.S Sprint!
I'm hoping there's another batch coming to my favorite dealers soon. Thanks for all the pics folks, and especially the size comparison. Looks like a fantastic EDC.

If anyone is interested g and r tactical has at least one in stock. Knives21 gives you the knife for 238 before shipping. You do have to pay shipping, but it still saves about $30

Thanks for adding those great pictures to the thread.
I can’t think of another company that would make a model like this and bring it back twice! Thanks Spyderco.

Re: 2022 P.I.T.S Sprint!
i got to handle a pits today. it was way better than i thought it would be. the only thing that kept me from buying it is my desire to buy a different knife tomorrow. it fit my hand perfectly though and just felt so nice in hand. if you're on the fence, it's great.

Re: 2022 P.I.T.S Sprint!
I took mine apart to see if I could lighten the action some. Take down is easy, but reassembly is a bit tricky. The back spring is pretty strong. Putting it back together requires a wood or plastic wedge to keep the spring open, otherwise you cannot get the pin past the blade.
One important tip is that the screws holding the stop pin are very influential in how heavy or light the action is. Tighten the pivot screws until there is no blade wobble, then fine tune with the stop pin screws. Purple Loctite 222 will keep the screws from backing out.

Re: 2022 P.I.T.S Sprint!
Thanks for the tips. Was looking at mine wondering if that would be tricky with the back spring on reassembly. I’ll likely wait a bit longer and break mine in a bit more before taking it apart for a cleaning. Looking forward to it though.JRinFL wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 8:28 pmI took mine apart to see if I could lighten the action some. Take down is easy, but reassembly is a bit tricky. Did you notice much difference in action after fine tuning? Mine has smoothed out a lot from normal use. It feels really good now.

Welcome to the forum. You won’t regret it if you get one. It’s a great EDC knife. Feels like it’s made to be used for a long time. Re: 2022 P.I.T.S Sprint!
Yes, the action on mine is improved. However, I probably could have avoided taking it apart had I known about the how the stop pins screws affected the action. Just loosening those would have gotten me to the same end result.Ranger_Ike wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 9:06 pmThanks for the tips. If anyone does loosen them, I recommend removing each one, applying purple or blue thread locker so you don't have to keep adjusting and no screws are lost.

Back at Spyderco.com... https://www.spyderco.com/catalog/detail ... t-Run/2313
If you're on the fence... I wouldn't expect this to restock again. Although i didn't expect this restock either.
Edit: Gone again

when i was there last week, they told me they had five of them, but i'm sure they won't sell all of those on the website because they'll want to leave some in stock in the store.Buddafucco wrote: ↑Sat Aug 27, 2022 2:11 pmBack at Spyderco.com... https://www.spyderco.com/catalog/detail ... t-Run/2313

i'm committed to not buying any more at the moment, but i'd seriously consider this one if i wasn't. it's definitely not my favorite when it comes to looks (i don't like holes in my handles), but it feels great in hand and the integrated back spring is one of the coolest slip joint designs ever.
if you think you want one, you do. don't sleep.

Re: 2022 P.I.T.S Sprint!
Gotta chime in. I have a Cat, a Brouwer, a Rhino, and a Chaparral Sun and Moon. Love them all.
I’ve only ever carried this knife since I’ve gotten it. Perfect ergos, light weight, excellent blade shape, and no-fuss one-handed closure.
Like others have said: get this while you can, it’s bloody amazing.

I agree if you are on the fence, get one. Or if you are walking by the fence. Or if you know somebody with a fence.

Are you saying it has better ergos that the Brouwer? That is quite a statement - the Brouwer is amazing in this regard.Sildani wrote: ↑Sat Aug 27, 2022 8:35 pmGotta chime in. I have a Cat, a Brouwer, a Rhino, and a Chaparral Sun and Moon. Love them all.

The Brouwer is certainly better for my XL hands. It’s very a different beast from the PITS, though.Matus wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 3:29 amAre you saying it has better ergos that the Brouwer?
