Make it G10 or micarta with liners and I'll bite!
I could go there myself or maybe a Salt version ? ;) Dan.

Small wharncliffe with Cruwear Micarta combo and a steel backspacer! Yes please.

I am normally more of a lighter knife guy, but on a wharnie Native... Micarta with liners actually sounds great!! I'd buy that.
No secret that I absolutely love the cool looks and style of the Native 5, and your proposal would really boost that even further.

The icing on the cake would be a tool steel with the potential of a nice patina. Would match Micarta so well imo.

Granted, this is the LW version, but it looks like the back spacer needs to be reworked for the new edge shape. Photo taken from a Nick Shabazz video.

This thread is very interesting to me for a couple reasons: I love Wharnies and love the Native. In the interest of trying to understand the geometry/engineering challenge a little better I have my Salt 2's handy in PE classic blade shape and PE Wharnie. I figure the adjustment's needed to do the Wharnie in the Delica handle might give a clue what's needed for the Native. The Wharnie blade is almost 3mm shorter than the standard blade and the kick on the Wharnie is also 1mm larger/longer (can't find my calipers at the moment so that's eyeballing with a tape measure). Just from aesthetics standpoint I think the kick on the N5 could easily accommodate an extra even 2mm which brings the Spydie hole fully above the scale and barely effects the svelte lines that makes it one of my favorites. The lockbar would need some re-working. With the bigger kick I'm not sure the back spacer would need much if any work. So kudo's to whoever suggested that (David I think?), I think it would work fine and I'll take mine in MagnaCarta thank you.

Very interesting and detailed thoughts!

And right, with a bigger kick the the backspacer probably would need any rework, but at what point would the blade sit to "high", so that the tip would start to get exposed when the knife is fully closed? :thinking

Just a thought and question...

Wish I could draw this out but if you take an imaginary line straight up from the initial plunge line (imagine the blank being a rectangle) I thing raising the kick wouldn't bring the point up above the handle and might even (you'll like this) get you a couple MORE millimeters of length on that blade without it looking like the RockJumper (and I agree we don't want that). If this mod ruins the lines of the Native, I'd rather not have it at all. But this is all just my speculating and imagining/envisioning how this could work. I'm sure some of you out there have the skills and spatial reasoning to mock something up. There's always that hidden bummer factor that those of us not in the industry don't understand.

Really strong "stop liking what I don't like" vibes from your posts in this thread. You may want to examine why you want to control what other people say about their preferences and who is being selfish in this scenario.
Oh the old “no, you!” strategy… Ok well, you got me. :straight-face

If you think I have any desire to control what other people say about their preferences, you’re mistaken. It has nothing to do with that.

“Spoiled” probably would have been a better word to use over “selfish.”
Yeah I'm probably totally off base. Calling other people selfish and spoiled is an excellent way to encourage discourse. No attempt to shut down what others are saying there. No siree.

You know that’s not what I meant but yeah, I guess it would seem that way. At least, it got you involved in a thread you otherwise were not involved in! ;)

Theres no reason for you to be offended for others unless maybe what I said caused a little bit of self reflection. :thinking

The irony of you trying to shame me into not posting is not lost on me, by the way.
