Is this allowed?

#1

Post by Jurmuscle »

I was looking at a place in Houston today called serenity knifes. They are a Spyderco dealer along with other brands. And they are selling a black sv45 with the blue handle from the sv110. And the black handles are on the sv110 blade. I asked if it was a sprint run and they said "no we just like swapping stuff around" doesn't this void the warranty for the customer before even buying it?

If we spent as much time trying as we do doubting, we might have already accomplished it.

Dear Jurmuscle:

Their practice doesn't necessarily void the warranty, but it certainly can be confusing for the customer. If their reassembly of the knives isn't done properly and compromises the proper mechanical function, it can affect warranty coverage.

Stay safe,

Mike

Were the prices the same as they should have been?

I looked on their website.

Blurple S45VN - $200
Black S110V - $230

What is really odd is they did not swap the hardware. Looks fine with black hardware on a satin blade, but the black blade with satin hardware is odd looking.

Very weird in general, I'd stay away from that place.

Fyi... Serenity Knives is on the Dealer Locator List.
They've actually been the last place, that i know of, to still show an LC200n Native in stock.
Blade swapping unsold knives is weird though. If they actually still have both knives, maybe they would undo the swap if you were going to purchase one? But they still might be priced over MAP pricing, which is the exact opposite of getting a military discount through SFO.

Wow, you pay a premium for the shop boys to monkey around with you knife,

I was a shop boy in college. I wouldn’t buy a knife I’d monkeyed around with back then.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.
