If the Aqua goes away why not use the Jump Master platform , full tang modify blade shape possibly and go to go . It is probably a crazy idea but really like to keep a Salt fixed blade in lineup. MG2

Handle is a totally different shape and the blade height (distance from spine to edge) is too tall. Also even if the outline of the handle was modified to be the same it would still need different frn molds. I think it would be easier to do a dedicated model than modify a bunch of Jumpmasters that much.

I agree and would love to see this come back in magnacut. If the molds are shot, maybe that’s an indication of it being a good seller?
Considering they were reworked Vagabond molds, they've had a pretty long run.

I'd be up for some consolidating of the fixed blade line. There's some similarities between the Jumpmaster and the Enuff line. So maybe something close to that but not as wide and chunky? I have an Aquasalt enroute so I'll be able to have a little more informed opinion soon.

I'm now tempted to pick up an Aqua Salt SE, but I just don't really know what I would do with it. It definitely falls into one of the more hypothetical categories of use in my life.
So it goes.

Just ordered a PE Aqua Salt since its' future may be suspect. My first instinct was to go with the SE but I want to try thinning out the PE and putting a 300 grit edge on it. That should be a good start on work-hardening it. I'd still love to see it in Magnacut.

Thats good to hear. If you guys do end up discontinuing it then I hope you would consider doing a second version later on.

I agree that one of the best things about the Aqua Salt is its handle. And the fact that it's not full tang is what makes it perfect, in this particular model.
The blade shape is amazing, the overall balance, the light weight, all combined make a very fine knife, that it's not easy to find in the market.
Full tang, 4 or 5 mm thickness is the norm, so, in my humble opinion, the Aqua Salt offers something that it's not easy to find.

yep. i've tried and sold off a lot of smaller fixed blades from esee, swamp rat etc. they were heavier, cut worse, but didn't come close to the chopping ability of a $20 hatchet. the aqua salt does everything I need a knife to do outdoors.

Hey Sal… how about a redux of the AquaSalt in FFG Magnacut? That would be an awesome knife! (Black with satin blade!)

The Vagabond came out around 2005 and only lasted a couple of years. The molds were reworked for the Aqua Salt which came out in 2008. I'd bet the Fish Hunter uses the same molds. I don't know how fast they wear, but 17 years and three different models sounds like a really long time for a set to last. That tells me all those models were not high volume sellers, making the investment in replacement molds pretty darn risky.

I'd be interested in anything without a blacked out blade and would prefer a yellow or green FRN handle.

In my quest for a fishing knife I bought a couple of PE Pacific Salts, in H1 and LC200N, because "both" appears to always be the correct answer when having to choose.

I also picked up a backup Dragonfly 2 salt since H1 appears to be on it's way out.

I’d love another run in yellow before you discontinue the line, please.

I see Magnacut is leading, but the “steel nerds” have to understand that not all of us want vanadium carbides in our steel. I voted keep it H1 but, at this point it would be H2. It’s a shame the Aqua Salt is being considered for disco, and I’m one of those guys who has limited Spyderco options anymore because sorry, I’ll NOT buying anything with vanadium or niobium carbides. The powers that be need to understand that there ARE Spyderco fans that won’t buy those types of steels. Rant over.

Out of curiosity, is this because of sharpenability, toughness, or something else? I own quite a few H1 knives (at least a dozen), and nothing in Magnacut, though I’ve had great experiences with Vanax (which is about 3.5% vanadium). I’m not disagreeing with you; I’m just curious about your point of view. Thanks!
