You say wasted space for a ricasso, I say a lot of space for a sharpening choil :savouring

Haha! I completely appreciate the love for the design, and honestly, I'm glad that there was a legitimate reason for the giant ricasso...but I would love to see what kind of finger/sharpening choil could be improvised/utilized with that extra space!

I want to be clear; I still really like this knife and am 75% sure that I will be picking one up...but a regrind, well yeah...
So it goes.

That's quite an exposed hook on the back of the blade when closed. Any issues with snagging on the draw?

Not for me, but then again, I'm a very low speed and very high drag kind of operator. :ninja

Sometimes a design just feels “right” even though it is not perfect. This one feels “right” to me.
Exactly how I feel.

I have pinched the side of my finger on a couple of occasions. I think it broke skin once. I thought about grinding it down a little, but it actually makes a decent emergency beer bottle opener.

I'm just now noticing the 1/4" of wasted space in the ricasso...it seems completely unnecessary and would be much more appealing if it angled all the way back to the guard.

--

Well, looking for an explanation led me to user subwoofer's extremely thorough review from 2015 - Review: The Spyderco PITS Folder. In the review he explains that from the tip, following the curved edge of the blade, the cutting edge is stopped at exactly 3" to keep it UK legal, thus leaving the giant ricasso...

Great design and an excellent review that I had never seen before, but the whole UK legal thing is becoming much less appealing, LOL! Maybe a regrind is in order for the PITS...I don't really know.

I highly recommend subwoofer's review for anyone interested in the history or the design of PITS.
Now that the knife is going to be obtainable, I pay more attention to this kind of stuff. And I can be a bit OCD about these kind of details…
If all that ricasso is just for legal reasons, I wonder why they did didn’t just make the whole knife shorter. It’s an interesting knife for sure, but for the price (which does seem to end up in the reasonable bracket), my nitpicks may just add up to the scale tipping the wrong way

Thank you Buddafucco! I was just about to make a post asking if anyone had heard any updates. I really want to pre-order this one.

that's cool that you can order it modified by them. i'd certainly want that if i was going to get one. i think it's begging for a splash of color in the handle.

$280 seems steep for a non locker but having handled one of the originals, it’s like the slip joint Sebenza

No new word on these, yet? WoK site still shows the "week of the 27th", which we are/were assuming is for the month of July, 2022, but who really knows?

Hi JR,

Sorry for any disappointment in delivery. I'm sure they're just waiting for their turn. Probably my bad for speaking too soon. I got one of the pieces early and I've been carrying it. I really like and respect Mike's designs and his innovations I think this is the best one yet. A real EDC Slipit. Someone mentioned that it is the "Sebenza" of slip joints, and I think that's probably a good description. We are pleased to be able to offer it to you.

So yes, I must be reprimanded for "Too early" mention. Apologies. At least you know it will get here, and you know there is really nothing quite like it on the market, and you know we appreciate your patience.

I would be thinking that these will not that THAT long to show as they are already on 'coming soon' at Lamnia with final price. So I am naively thinking that in a couple of weeks we might be able to get our hands on it.
