Absolutely in for this. Depending on steel, I’d potentially buy both a plain edge and serrated version.

This is going to be wild — I’d be totally stoked for VG-10.

I think a wharncliffe would be what the LEOs were asking for all those years ago...a Mariner with a point. I'd like to see the shape more like I modded my Endura to be, but that might leave the tip too narrow for the crowbar crowd.

I seem to enjoy smaller wharncliffes... I never say never but I haven't bought one over the size of the Delica ( from any manufacturer) . I tried the Yojimbo but it just wasn't for me.
I’m with you on that one. About to sell my delica wharncliffe, but keeping my dragonfly and I have a manbug wharnie on the way. For me, it’s like an exacto knife and I don’t need a huge blade for the exact cuts it makes. In fact it’s easier to choke way up in the smaller knives.

I suspect more effort will be needed on a Police4 Wharncliffe than on, say, a Rock Jumper to preserve the same downward force along either edge’s entirety (these two continuities being a Wharnie’s claim to fame).

If true, and put differently, expending the same effort on a Police4 and Rock Jumper will yield greater downward force on the Rock Jumper than on the Police4.

Seems like a loss of efficiency. I think I’ll sit out the quest for a Police4 Wharncliffe.

Only near the tip. Cut with both near the ricasso and everything you wrote doesn't apply.

I own wharncliffe blades from the size of the Spin all the way up to 18" machetes, and it's wild how many people seem to only appreciate that blade shape in smaller sizes. Yojumbo is a great utility cutter.

Wouldn't the longer lever arm of the P4 increase efficiency? Perhaps at the loss of some control of the tip.

I was thinking of the wrist. It would need to be more energetically engaged on the longer knife than the shorter to equal the same downward force at all places along the shorter edge.

Bumping to see who else would be in for a mammoth wharncliffe folding knife. Once available I will jump on it like a starved wolf ;)

I'm in! My serrated police 4 has dethroned the military as my favorite overall. A wharncliffe would make it even better for the purpose of the knife.
