I called a company on the phone and listened to their outgoing voicemail message. The computer generated voice was doing fine telling me to press this number for this, or that number for that, until it gave out a phone number for a third option.

The phone number it gave? "Seven billion, two hundred and two million, four hundred and four thousand, nine hundred and ninety three!"

If it had been a computer that knew engineering notation, it probably would have been 7.202404993e+9.

Haha! Wonder what it would have done with dashes in the number. Seven hundred and twenty, dash, two hundred and forty, dash, four thousand nine hundred and ninety three?

This is funny, but truly smart computers are coming. They are getting smarter and smarter. I wrote a book that explains why we need laws limiting their intelligence called Gods of War. Because they are created in our image, one day they will turn on us and create others of their kind in their own image and we will be in deep trouble. I might be too late to do anything about it, then.
