How do you like the 85? I’ve been toying with getting one for a while. Either that or maybe an Exocet. Today, I’ve got this one with me:

My Ultratech suddenly decided to stop working a couple weeks ago. Put it in my pocket when I went to take the dog for a walk. Came home and went to put it back on my display stand, fired it out...and just the tip unenthusiastically poked out. Reset it, same thing again. Guess I need to spend that $15 and send it in for warranty.

I blew the heck out of it with compressed air, but that didn't do anything. I haven't even fidgeted with the thing a zillion times either, not to the point where I would expect a possible spring problem. I certainly don't have whatever weird type of bits that fit those knives! I wouldn't know what I'm looking for if I got inside of those knives anyways haha.

I’d spray the crap out of it with wd40 then compressed air. If it don’t work after that send it in.

Maybe I'll give that a shot. It doesn't make any kind of different sounds, no new rattle. Was hopeful the compressed air would work, maybe a squirt of WD will do something. Thanks Josh.

(Sorry, Rick, I couldn’t help myself, but this immediately came to mind when I read your post 😅).

But on a serious note, I did see a video clip from Microtech fairly recently that spoke directly about how to fix this issue. I’ll have to see if I can find it. If you do end up having to send it in for some reason, Microtech will take good care of you. I once had to send my Troodon back to them because of an overly “pokey” glass breaker, and they replaced the pointed tip for a new version tip at no cost. (They did re-sharpen it, although I had already told them it still had the original factory edge. Doh!)

Oh geez! I guess I would be a little annoyed if they sent me the wrong knife, but I’m glad it worked out in the end for you. I tend to prefer the Troodon over the Ultra-Tech, but both are pretty nice knives.

I mean a real big squirt too, drown it. 😂😁 Get all that crap out. That was my biggest pet peeve with an OTF. I’d carry it in my pocket for maybe three days and have to drown all the lint out because it would fail to fire. I don’t own anymore OTF toys like that anymore. Lol

Cool knives, no doubt about it! I've always thought they were cool and loved the color scheme on mine and for a really good price. It's just not a practical knife.

But this beast is! I missed carrying it last week but told myself to give others pocket time, they gotta learn to share my hand haha!
