This was bad, like I had to really force it. But it happened three or four times and it seems ok now, I guess it went to an upper lock %, seems more like 80/90% now. One bonus : way less lock rock, I can't notice it in use anymore, and that's a blessing.
I don't know enough about framelock to say anything about the late lock-up, I'm pretty sure it won't move any more than that. Something must've been blocking it from fully locking up before that.
I'm gonna just live with it, I did some nice food prep for the last few days and the blade itself is a keeper.
If I ever have another itch for another titanium framelock, I'll think twice ^^.

It kinda feels like what I imagine a Z-cut would be like ! I've been waiting for serrated restock for a while now, it's my mother xmas gift (delayed a bit but eh, she'll love it).
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

After about 30 to 50 openings, I'm starting to have lock stick. This happens when the lockbar travels a bit further when the lock-up happens. I open it slowly but it's still not helping, 1 time out of 5 it sticks pretty hard.

I don't know if K&T are ok with me sending back 2 SC and buying another one, I don't even know if I wanna keep shooting my shot on this one ^^
I pretty much close and open the knife with 2 hands… would lock stick be reproduceable for me? I don’t know that I’ve encountered it.
Was never a space cadet, but with LC200N I might be more in space than a cadet.

I tried one handed opening … I just don’t see it happening… my fingers are too fat, and I just don’t care.

I can’t reproduce lock stick with two hands, but one hand opening isn’t possible for me.

Lock stick is present no matter what, it's just a thing that makes disengaging the lock harder, often with a distinct sound when it finally disengages.
Mine seems okay now, the lock engagement just went up 10%. I think it's gonna stay that way for a while.
I don't play fruit ninja with this one either ^^ It's just a pricy knife of wich I wanted to rationalize the price as much as I could !

Some knives take some time to break in. I couldn’t open my Umnumzaan one-handed when it was new and I got thumb callus from it. I agree with the Spydiechef’s blade play being more of a lock bar flex vs vertical play. I think you will enjoy the knife if you continue to use it. Not sure if you can still return it since you adjusted the lock bar tension and already used it to cut. I hope you get the issues sorted out. It’s a great knife.

I think 80% lockup is typical of SpydieChefs. I think Marcin designed it that way for safety. Hope you grow to like this special knife.

Yeah I gave up on returning it since the only dealer selling it at a "reasonable" price is understaffed right now and they can't check knives before sending them. I have the hunch that every knife is gonna be the same, since all their stock is from the same batch.

I prefered to check by myself, and now it's better than before, and I'm pretty ok with how it is !
In a week it's gonna be all scratched up anyway, knowing LC200N ^^. As long as functionnality is still ok, I'll be very pleased.
Thanks for entertaining the thread, and providing info for OCD people like me that somehow can't carry a knife that might wiggle from time to time (well, I've been hurt once or twice by lock failure, I do not wish it to anybody).

I really wish you'd had a better experience with the Spydiechef; this is a bit of a bummer.

I think mine has the strongest lockup of all of my folders; no play in any direction. I haven't forced or tested this, but have done the same types of cutting/testing as my other knives, and it's solid. Lockup on mine is around 60-70%.

As for the lockstick, that's common (practically expected) with the Spydiechef since there's no lockbar insert. Mine has it as well, and I guess I've just accepted and gotten used to it.

I don't have a Z-cut to compare myself, but the blade of the Spydiechef is over twice as thick. I'm betting a Z-cut would be a much better kitchen slicer.

I hope you're able to warm up to the Spydiechef; it's a lot to spend on a knife you don't really, really like. I haven't been carrying mine very often lately, but it's still one of my favorites. The ergonomics are great for my hand (as simple as the handle looks), and it's also great in the pocket. I also think the cutting edge is much longer than people realize.

It's also one of my favorites aesthetically. I love the design, lines, and simplicity. It's like, two slabs of titanium and a blade, but the way everything lines up and fits together visually adds a lot to the enjoyment, for me at least.
