Manbug Leaf

Orange would be my favorite. It may not be the most popular, but I think it would still be popular. The Spyderhawk Sprint handle looked fantastic.

I'm a dedicated ladybug carrier, but bring out a leaf manbug (any color) and I'm in.

So I just got my manbug wharncliff in the mail an hour ago. That's the ladybug killer for me! I have a k390 manbug but the blade shape keeps it out of the rotation. I think a leaf would be even betterer than the wharncliff! Hopefully these all get the k390 treatment eventually. Would keep them off the stones for a while.

Also I have a bit of a plea, if there's going to be a clip for these please make it removable in a way that allows the lanyard hole to be used! For me, if I wanted a small clip knife, I'd reach for my dragonfly since there's more to grab when pulling it out of the pocket. The value of these bug knives is that they go on the keychain or loose in the pocket, and in both cases having some paracord through the lanyard hole is the answer!

Another way to say this, I think, is I don't see the manbug/ladybug as simply a smaller dragonfly. They fit into a niche of their own. I don't need or want a smaller dragonfly. I want a leaf-bladed manbug. :)

You know what, I'm starting to agree with you. I've been asking for a clipped Manbug for a while now and finally modded a Manbug Salt on my own by adding a Dragonfly wire clip. After carrying it for a day I can already tell that I won't keep the clip on it. Maybe it's because I'm so used to the Dragonfly or maybe because the knife is just so small that the clip takes up too much real estate. Either way, I'm starting to see the Ladybug and Manbug as pocket droppers. But, if Sal and company figure out how to add a clip, no harm no foul since you don't need to use it if you don't want to. Excited to see what the new Manbug will look like. For now the clip is back on the Dragonfly and I threw on a little paracord.

I tried that with a Dragonfly for a while and decided that it didn't, at lest for me, serve as that "loose in the pocket" knife. It was too big. That's why when I designed the Manbug, I didn't want it to be any larger than the Ladybug, just more muscle.

Thanks sal and you nailed it. I’m a day into the wharncliffe manbug and I love it. Looking forward to the leaf blade.

Hope both of those get k390 treatment eventually if feasible.

As said many times though, it is very easy to remove a clip if you don't want it, but harder to add one if it isn't there.

Being able to remove the clip AND being left with a lanyard hole is not the same as just being able to remove a clip.

My plea is to not lose the hole.

If you're measuring the reception of this new model by overall sales, it will then be a choice (competition) between this new version and 5 other black FRN variations (original blade shape and wharnie versions). If a different color was chosen, sales would likely increase since people would probably like to have some added variation above and beyond the blade shape to make this version more special. Black RIT dye is cheap, and folks wanting black can easily make it so. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way in reverse. This is akin to the old grumblings about everything having to be made in black G10...

VG10 is a great choice and black will be okay with me. Sure, I'd like another color, but black is a good one and never goes out of style.

This is really great news, I’m excited to check this leaf blade manbug, especially with a new wire clip. Any chance there can be releases of this model in g10 or stainless steel handles ?

Sal I am curious how long something like this takes to go from prototype to production. In the jester thread I think 18 months was being tossed around.

Once prototypes are approved, 18 months is a good guess, at least right now. Some, like this one, could be faster because the handle is already tooled up and working.

As far as going faster in general, it's challenging to do so.
